I went with Home Shield because of better reviews. I filed a claim online and it was very easy. Pop-A-Lock was here the same day and they were very good.
I had something that was squeaking and it sounded like a little mouse going around in the dryer. Affordable Appliance came out and fixed it with no problem. I’ve used American Home Shield twice since 2018 and I had very good experiences both times.
American Home Shield has been perfect. This is my second year with them and they've been on top of things. They sent the information and I didn't have any issues at all. I have renewed with them. They sent out NorthStar Appliance Repair for an appliance issue and they were amazing. The barricade was broken inside the dryer but we couldn't see without them taking it apart. They pulled a part, showed us what was, and left to get the part. They came back, fixed the problem, and boom, boom, gone.
The AC wasn’t coming on and the technician from Air Doctor fixed that and then checked a few other things. He was very good. But we had a bad experience with Home Shield this month for the first time about the payment. When I first got it, they'd send the bill in the mail and I would pay it. Then they said that we would have to have it taken out of our account. We’re on social security. We pay AHS at the beginning of the month and it’s not due ‘til the 15th. There’s some kind of water pump on the unit and it was spraying water out of it into my utility closet. I went on the American Home Shield website and it is user-friendly, but sometimes it would be helpful to have a bit of a comment section. It was a little difficult at the time for me to tell exactly what the issue was. I couldn’t tell where the water was coming from. The tech from Mr. Rooter came out for our plumbing. He was professional. He went to the problem, fixed it and told us what was going on. He had his mask and gloves on. Overall, I feel good about having AHS.
The upstairs AC unit wasn’t cooling and it was leaking. It was freezing out and then as the ice melted, it would drip. It had been going on like for a couple of days when I submitted the claim and the process was very easy. I did it online the last time. The contractor Ace Heating & Cooling was excellent.
