This company is the worst! Called the company because I was having problems with my ac unit. Tech come out and advised that the motherboard and 2 dampers needed to be repaired. AHS denied the claim advising that because the motherboard and dampers were part of a zoned ac unit, the claim was denied. The warranty states that all components of the ac unit were repaired and no where on the contract does it say that zone a/c units are not covered. I have a 3 level home built appts 10 years ago. It needed a ac zoning system to dis... read more

I've had a home warranty with American Home Shield for two years. This week I've used it for the second time to fix a water line that connects to the garden faucet. In their website, under plumbing there is a list of non covered issues.... mine was not there, great. On my contract, under plumbing, nothing indicated that my pipe issue would be excluded. So, I placed a claim, paid $100, waisted a full afternoon of work just to have the plumber tell me that my pipe burst was not covered. After multiple conversations with costum... read more

In November 2019 I contacted AHS about my heat not working. They sent a contractor whos said my heat exchanger was bad. They ordered another heat exchanger and a month later they came to replace it. When they took the unit apart they said it didn't need replaced just repaired so they didn't replace it. April 2021 it stopped working again. They sent another contractor out and they said it did have a hole in it which placed my family in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Now AHS says they won't pay to replace the heat exchan... read more

I've been with AHS for 7 yrs. In May of this year, I saw that my 2 A/C systems weren't cooling. I called and called and couldn't get through. I have a wife, 2 yr old and a 6yr old in Houston, TX and I work out of state. Anyone knows that May-September in TX could get to the mid 100s. So I had no choice but to call a company to diagnose my systems- total replacement. I called AHS again- long wait times and couldn't get through. So I got quotes for systems and had them replaced. This time, we had to move our 2 yr old to the co... read more

I have a raised a request for my dishwasher repair and the person walked in and replaced the key panel and said it s all good and should be working. after couple of days i see the issue came up (where the dishwasher stops and lights keep blinking). after about 10 days he came in again with my new service request and says the door latch on both side height is not even and will convey this to AHS. (thats sounded wierd to me why didn't he identified this in his first visit). I reached out to AHS customer service and says this k... read more

After being with AHS for almost 2-years I placed my 1st service call on my refrigerator, ice maker a solid sheet of ice not working, in early June, a repair company contacted me within a couple of days but it would be 2-weeks before they could give me an appointment. 1st appointment a tech informs me he would need to order parts which would take another 2-weeks. (Not sure where they are getting their parts from but I can have parts for anything in 2-days) So the part comes in and another tech comes out and replaces what they... read more

I had a warranty with American Home Shield for 4.5 yrs. During that time I had a couple of times that I needed to use the warranty for small items like replacement of a garbage disposal or a leaking toilet. They covered these small items but, when my AC went out and had to be replaced, NO COVERAGE! When I had sewage backing up in my home due to my septic system being blocked, NO COVERAGE even though when I initially signed up with them they said that I was covered but since I did not contact them when the contract was renewe... read more

My 19 year old water that American Home Shield (AHS) installed went out and they charged an extra $410 for upgrading the water heater to code in 2019. AHS first send the water size water heater then send right but called it an upgrade. Upgrading the pipes contacted to new was all I saw and it is now 2020 and water has not been inspected by the city yet. RUN AND HIDE IF YOU CAN THEY ARE CROOKS. I was customer since September 1996 and I left them, I got tired of having to call and talk to insufficient representatives who use a... read more

Horrible. The service providers they send out seem trained to con you. Here is my story September 2019 in detail for which AHS has told me they will not reimburse me for the $75 charge. Original problem: Both outside AC units AND inside fan are running BUT there is no air coming through the air vents in the house. We were given instructions to turn off the AC unit 24 hours prior to a visit from Rush Heating and Cooling and was given a window of service between 2 - 4 on Tuesday September 10th. There was a problem with this se... read more
