I carried service on my rental income properties. In the past two years, have contacted them twice and truly do not feel the service and the results are worth the investment of carrying a service contract month-to-month. When I called to request service, It took a few days before I even got a response back. I was at the point back at the beginning of March 2019 to cancel my warranty contracts with AHS. I called and canceled my service and then noticed they charged me for the next month for two of my service contracts. I call... read more

When I call for service, I wait over 30 minutes to talk to an agent. Often, y The agent has a poor grasp of English which makes the process frustrating.

I had a technician at my house at the beginning of the week for a broken faucet and since then I have just been getting the run around from American Home Shield -- they are useless I should have just called my Plumber and it would have been fixed in a timely manner. I have been on hold and they just hung up on me again!

Business response:

Hi LS, Thank you for providing with feedback about your experience. I hate to hear about the service delay and would be glad to speak with you and assist with a resolution to the repairs.

As a customer for over 12 years, thinking one day it would be worth it, I've learned you may recoup your premium some years, but that's about it. I would only recommend for small things like plumbing stoppages, but better to save your money. For example, to replace a hot water heater, covered in the contract, one of the plumbers they sent out quoted an additional $400 to "bring up to code" and another they sent wanted ~$750...this is out of pocket (not paid by AHS) and it's not optional. I called plumbers independently and t... read more

When we had a claim for a water heater problem. The plumber said he would replace the water heater but he attacked on over $1000 of modifications that were not required. Also another plumber said it was just a leaky valve. And the water heater was just fine

Our hot water heater broke December 30th. American Home Shield sent a plumber out to assess Jan 4th who said we needed a replacement. AHS wanted a second opinion, so they scheduled another plumber to come out a week later, on Jan 10th. This plumber said we were missing pieces and AHS said we'd have to pay $1,300 out of pocket because it wasn't covered under our plan. The missing piece was the wind screen (basically made of foil and not essential to the functionality of the water heater). We replaced the missing part and AHS ... read more
