It seems their business model is to collect premiums and then deny coverage. Ive had so many of their contractors come out, make false claims about the repair so that AHS denies the coverage. Then after denied the contractor puts in an obsenely high bid for the repair on their own. AHS has an appeals process, but it too seems to be a farce as they have you jump through hoops and then never respond to the appeal. Of the last three times we attempted to use our warranty, we were denied twice. Both rejections were based upon ‘facts’ related to AHS which were NOT in any statements made to me when the repair person was at our house.

I have been an overall customer of AHS for over nine years and in the past year I have watched this business go way downhill. First off unless your calling to renew your warranty or pay your deductible you will have a guaranteed wait time of at least 40 minutes to speak with a representative. The contractors they send out to do the work are bottom of the barrel companies. I’ve had several companies tell me they only do the home warranty work for when they are slow. The service company they sent us were wonderful - the service man & the receptionist worked hard to resolve our issues. ASH itself was less than stellar - we (both the service people and us as consumers) spent over an hour on hold each time we tried to call - wrong parts had been sent - took about 6 weeks from start to finish to fix our fridge.

American Home Shields still shows that we owe the $75 service fee when we had already paid the fee to Moreno Heating and Plumbing together with the charge for the air used. The service company failed to report to AHS that they had collected the fee. I mailed AHS a copy of the PAID receipt and our account still reflects the fee. We are highly disappointed that this matter has not be remedied.

My refrigerator died it took 6 days for a repair man to come check it and I'm still waiting for a replacement compressor. I don't feel after spending$16,500 through the years with AHS I should be waiting weeks without a refrigerator. With a 94 y/o & disabilited person in household

For minor issue they have been okay but the last service was denied for not normal ware and tear. Weird thing was that it was my plumbing enclosed in the wall, that I have never touched??? Plus it took 2 months to get the answer and took me constantly calling the plumbing company and AHS to finally be told sorry.

DON'T USE American Home Shield!! Repairman they sent to check AC showed up 2 days later, Said need new AC & HEATING. He had wrapped wire so Heater wouldn't work we found out later. Said AHS wouldn't do much for us & wanted us to buy whole new unit from co. he worked for. Price was outrageous & said would take several days. Was 107 degrees & we're 74 yrs old. Getting late in day so we called another repair business & they came that evening & found wrapped wire to Heater. Came the next day & put in new AC. American Home Shield... read more

Took them 11 days to receive and install a furnace. I had a two week old baby in the house at the time. I understand waiting a week or two for any other appliance but a furnace in the middle of winter. Absolutely terrible of them to make my family freeze for 11 days and not offer to cover a hotel stay or a stipend to pay for my space heater costs. Very dissatisfied for the way they handle furnace claims.
