AHS doesn't try to get out of paying for repairs or replacement like another company I tried.

My almost 30 year old dishwasher has been repaired by home shield representative twice. It should be replaced for a variety of reasons primarily because it cleans the dishes poorly.

Too limited on coverage. Example, only paying $5.00 for a liter/ pound of freon when the charge is over $85.00

I have had a generally overall good experience with American Home Shield. Their customer service when I have had issues has been positive and responded well. I have had good experience with their contractors with the exception of one. It took a multiple visits and contractors to fix one of my issues. In the end they got it done though. I do feel their monthly cost is getting a little high though, especially when there is the service fee attached.

The plusses are that it is nice that when something breaks, it is covered and that AHS responds quickly with a repair service. The minuses are that it can take some time to get something repaired because AHS must approve the repair and, in many cases, provide parts from its stock of parts. This can easily take an extra week. I have had a really good experience with American Home Shield. The only part I don't like is there really is no such thing as emergency service. I wish you could get same day emergency service. I have found it takes days for service.
