Pricing was magnitudes higher than going through a Costco affiliated lender. The $1,000 guarantee is pure smoke and mirrors. They found every excuse not to honor their commitment, so you can't help but think they just use it to placate the customer so they don't shop it around. Whatever you do, shop around. Better.com was one of the most expensive offerings I got. Very disappointing.

Terrible experience. Like other comments I’m reading, seems incompetence runs wild in this company. After trying to get a loan I learned that most of the employees are college kids with no lending experience. Long story short I was upfront about having a foreclosure in my past and that my loan would have to go FHA. after receiving emails stating my loan was going conventional I reached out being concerned that the loan will be delayed. Horrible. Unprofessional. Incompetent . They do not respond in an effective matter. What is the saying " the left hand does not speak to the right". Poor communication would be an understatement. I applied with Better.com to refinance my existing residential loan. They pulled my credit and collected the appraisal the first day. They issued conditions / documents which I provided within 3 days. The issue came during the appraisal ordering. They sent an appraiser which refused to do my home because it was COMMERCIAL. Absurd! Thought we would give online lenders a shot. Rate wasn’t competitive and no one would ever call us back. Tried multiple times to reach our “assigned” consultant who never returned our calls. Hated sitting on hold to talk to someone. Went with a local lender instead. I wouldn’t recommend this company if you needed to close timely.

The process was extremely smooth. The rate was excellent and fees very low. The website is very good. It was a complete 180 experience from my first mortgage with *** ****. The reps were all friendly and fairly helpful. They were responsive by email but there were a few calls I requested that they did not attend. They answered my questions for the most part. There were a few questions where it seemed like they didn't know the answer and kind of gave me a non-answer and said it would be fine, I should complete the next task. ... read more

Human interaction is poor. I love Chats, but messages should be taken care of in a timely manner. The Dashboard and software used to load documents and know the status of the loan was very helpful. The education resources and FAQ are good. The ball was dropped at closing, that took longer than anything else and communication was bad. Overall, the experience was average. Well, my refinancing overall went great. I enjoyed this process more than any other I've used or attempted. Total transparency, I didn't have to go back and forth on the phone. Sometimes they misunderstood my answers and I had to clarify. Occasional delays in communication but rarely more than 24 hrs. I was not in any mad rush, and my refinance was pretty-straightforward from the start, so there isn't much to nitpick about here. I'm totally glad I took the chance with these guys.
