3rd time to try and won't be going back. Hamburger salad was good, but actual hamburger was mediocre. Cheap thin preformed patty. The thing I can't get past is how hateful the hostesses are and the checkout girls. Mgmt needs to train these girls in respect and communication. When I say hi and try to be friendly, don't look at me and grunt. And the checkout girl said all the right words in the most hateful and sarcastic tone. Three times and it's been this way every time. Well, sadly, I am not impressed. The service is very slow. The ambiance is good with comfortable seating, nice decor and clean tables. There is an extensive selection of food on the menu with some great sounding dishes. Prices are very high for diner food. Coffee is bland, avocado toast is minimal, bacon and sausage is minimal. If you really want to fill up choose the pancakes or biscuit dishes. You must ask for condiments or they are not provided. Over easy eggs are served broken. Food was great the service was really bad we had asked for ketchup and they never brought it to us and we waited for 30min to order our drinks and did not have what they said they had

Black Bear is my favorite restaurant, but Tuesday, May 14, 2024 was the worst meals we had. They must have had a new chef. My daughter ordered the Chichen 'N Waffle. The 3 chicken strips were so hard & over cooked, they were inedible. She had to order another meal. I ordered the Taco Salad, which I get quite often. The crispy tostada bowl was overcooked. The ground beef was overcooked. There were no refried beans, no salsa & no cheese. The service was OK. They must have had a new chef.

I think we went at a bad time and the server was overwhelmed.. we mainly came for the pancakes but were told they were out of there pancakes only to be told by the manager there were pancakes. The food at this location I must admit was not the best, and I appreciate the manager trying her best to accommodate us!
