Black Bear is my favorite restaurant, but Tuesday, May 14, 2024 was the worst meals we had. They must have had a new chef. My daughter ordered the Chichen 'N Waffle. The 3 chicken strips were so hard & over cooked, they were inedible. She had to order another meal. I ordered the Taco Salad, which I get quite often. The crispy tostada bowl was overcooked. The ground beef was overcooked. There were no refried beans, no salsa & no cheese. The service was OK. They must have had a new chef.

I think we went at a bad time and the server was overwhelmed.. we mainly came for the pancakes but were told they were out of there pancakes only to be told by the manager there were pancakes. The food at this location I must admit was not the best, and I appreciate the manager trying her best to accommodate us!

Second time in my life, I tipped 0, I ordered a bigfoot with French toast instead of biscuits. When the order came out, the server said: "Sorry about the long wait. If you need to speak to the manager about the cooks, you can." My order was wrong 100%: 5oz country steak, one egg, and I swapped the biscuit for French toast but didn't come out. Went with family on a Friday. They offer an all you can eat prime rib or fried fish and chips after 4:00pm. We arrived a little after 5:00pm. We were told it would be another hour for the prime rib so we all ordered the fish and chips. The fish was raw. The nice young waiter offered to bring out more fish. He did, it was raw. The manager offered to comp half the check when none of us were able to eat what we ordered. We walked out knowing we would never be back. I really wanted to like this place. Lots of "hype" leading up to their opening late last year. It's the middle of March. They should have it right by now. 50 minute wait on a Sunday morning. But that wasn't the issue. We'd heard that the wait was long. Ordered Corned Beef Hash with eggs over-easy and a pancake. My wife ordered the Sausage Scramble with sausage patties.
