Several pasta dishes were truly awful. "Homemade" pasta was like cardboard. Though the ambiance was lively and exciting, service was indifferent and distant
It gets very busy before show time at Lincoln Center. Pricey.
I can only comment on the selection I ordered which was the Veal Milanese, a dish I have enjoyed at many different Italian restaurants over the years. Cafe Fiorello's was by far the worst ever: dry and absolutely tasteless. The veal should have been moist and flavorful suffused with the salad and dressing traditionally placed on top. In this instance a miniscule portion of mostly dry arugula covered just a small part of a massive wafer thin cut of meat. When I asked for more salad to supplement what I had I was given a handf... read more
We went at the restaurant immediatly at the end of the opera play, but half an hour after the reservation time. They accept us without any restriction or warning. Thirty minutes after our arrival, they told us that the kitchen was now closed and that we could not complete our meal with a dessert. I did not think that I reserved in a fast food restaurant !...
We never wilingly go here. It's a noisy tourist trap, with terribly slow and sloppy service, mediocre and overpriced food. It survives on its ideal location, just across from Lincoln Center.
The restaurant was over-packed and noisy. The food took over an hour to come out and was mediocre. The table next to us seemed to be having the same problem. The service was absent and, when confronted, the waiter made excuses citing that all the other servers were actors and he was the only professional waiter in the place. I would not go back there.
They run out of the main dishes on the menu. They should be better prepared for a busy busy day. Is incredible that an italian restaurantruns out of mozzarella cheese!
My husband and I took our 3 adult children and their significant others for dinner at Cafe Fiorello, we were a party of eight. It took an hour and 15 minutes for our food to be brought out to us and even then it only came out two dishes at a time. It took another half hour for all but one of our party to get their meal. One meal never came. The table next to us also waited over an hour for their food. Absolutely no explanation so I have to assume that this was business as usual for them. Very disappointing!
second poor experience there in a row. appallingly bad service; limp salads, mislabeled wines; the opposite of what a NY dining evening should be. I strongly recommend against, and am telling those I know.
