Dr. Susan Wolf is the best dermatologist I've ever had (and I've had many!) Though I had gotten my acne under control from its previous state of cystic horror, I had one cyst pop up for the first time in about a year and told Dr Wolf I was very concerned it would come back and that I wanted to start Accutane. She got the ball rolling right away and put me on a 5.5 month course. I just had the BEST experience at California Skin Institute with Dr. Susan Wolf. I have seen Dr. Wolf a few times over the past 6 years or so and I'm really perplexed as to why there are some unfavorable reviews here on Yelp. As always, she thoroughly explained to me my options for treatment and we agreed one of their amazing lasers to treat my problem. I never felt rushed and Dr. Wolf couldn't have been nicer. I can't help but think that some people writing these reviews walked into her office expecting to be treated badly. I visited their website first and liked what I saw. I scheduled an appt for my 10 year old daughter who had a rash on her head and bumps on her upper arms and legs. Dr. Wolf explained what was happening, provided samples, prescribed what was needed (and it helped!) and billed me for services. I couldn't remember where the office was so looked in Yelp. Ok, this is weird. This is my first non food related review and its of my doctor no less. I read Dr. Wolf's reviews before seeing her and was a little concerned about the random negative reviews. I just left my first appointment with Dr. Wolf and I highly recommend her. Her staff was polite and friendly. Dr. Wolf is professional, caring and patient. Dermatologists can have a tendency to get you in and out as fast as they can, but she really took her time and answered my numerous questions in a kind and friendly way. ... read more

I must say Dr. Wolf and her office are amazing. My daughter developed a rash that was beginning to spread rapidly and we were very concerned about it. Basically we needed to see someone as soon as possible. I went through 5 dermatologists in San Mateo, all highly recommended, and no one could see her for 2 weeks. One doctor I had seen personally, and his staff just said he was booked until mid December, they didn't even bother to consult him. The billing and accounting at this place is horrible. I was charged a late fee to my FSA card which then got blocked because it isn't a justified medical expense. This place claimed they'd revert it but never have, it is impossible to get anyone on the phone for assistance. In office they can't figure out their systems nor secure approvals for making billing decisions. If orchestrated, then this is brilliantly frustrating Incompetence.
