I have Kaiser insurance, and Kaiser dermatology is really insufficient. I have been dealing with a chronic skin issue for nearly 2 years and had the wrong diagnosis from Kaiser from telederm, which is basically a medical assistant taking a picture of your skin and then getting a doctors's opinion on it. I saw Dr. Folks at the California skin Institute and got a diagnosis of type two rosacea and the treatment immediately helped. I'm super grateful. A month ago, I had written a bad review for which I apologize, for it was written in error. I took out my anger and frustration on Dr. Morales and it was not her fault but rather the young man who erased a skin scan appointment I had waited 4 weeks for and put a in its place "burning of precancerous spot". Dr. Morales had no idea; she had only looked at what the chart and what it had written on it, why I was there. She did what it said. I have since gone back and had my skin scan done. Where do I start. I went in 2 weeks ago for my epidermoid cyst that was painful and starting to turn red. I was seen for all of maybe 5 min after a 10 second "exam" of me pulling up my shirt to show the provider she said it's inflamed and gave me a prescription for Doxycycline and said come back in a week. She didn't even touch it or exam it thoroughly I asked with the redness if it was infected and I was told no the antibiotics will make it go down. I had a mole removal here after a first dermatologist didn't remove it deep enough and some color came back. The dermatologist here was very kind and fast, but I did ask twice beforehand how much it would cost and she assured me that insurance would cover it (even after I told her they didn't cover it last time). So I was under the impression that I wouldn't owe anything. It's about 7 months later, and I've been billed about $550. The first bill was a $150 bill for the office visit. worst service ever. I went to 3 different windows at the office to make my next appt. then, they cancelled my appts 3 times, at the last miniute. you will never have a chance to speak with a real person. sorry, no more chances after a year of failed service. don't waste yout time, they don't care about you.
I would like to start by saying I had a good experience with the doctor at CA Skin Institute. I have never left a negative review online, and you can confirm this in my Yelp account. This review is related to communication and billing issues, and I will remove this review as soon as a someone from their team contacts me. If you call their clinic to address scheduling or billing issues you communicate with an AI. It took a few calls for me to actually get a person where I was quoted the cost of the session.
