I have mixed feelings about my visit last month. I was referred by our primary care physician to Dr. Anjali Morales. I called in December to make my appointment & a very nice woman called me back in a pretty timely manner. She did explain that Dr. Morales is one of their most popular doctors so her schedule is usually pretty booked out, which is understandable. Dr. Sara Colby was my dermatologist for over 30 years. She retired and I am now seeing Dr. Mac-Fung, who I really like. I had an appointment today, 2/21/24 at 9:40 with Dr. Mac-Fung. As I was feeling ill on Sunday, 2/18/24, I left messages on Monday, 2/19/24 and also Tuesday, 2/20/24 that I was running a fever and needed to cancel my Wednesday, 2/21/24 appointment. California Skin Institute, despite the name, is pseudo-medical establishment, delivering zero results, and grossly overpriced. Went there for 18+ months, no improvement in skin condition after hundreds of dollars spent on visits and very expensive topical medicines. Low-quality, superficial 30-minute facial is called "surgery" and costs $90. Reviewers complain about scheduling, but compared to the absence of professional competencies that's the least of their problems.

Before I went here I tried to get appointments at other dermatologists but they were all booked out til spring. I decided to give this place a try and got an appointment right away. Which I understand why now, it's because they are a horrible facility. Trust the bad reviews. This facility has like 8 front desk associates working at a time and none of them can pick up the phone or check voicemails to call patients back. The customer service is AWFUL. Every single medical assistant is extremely rude, condescending, and extremely reluctant to help. I came here with my mother, who has syringomyelia and skin cancer of the face. Due to the syringo, she cannot speak as fluid as everyone else and often has mild seizures that disrupt her when trying to talk. My Dr. cancelled my appointment. I called the office to book another and was told by a message my call would be answered within 4 hours. After calling 6 times no one has called back. Total frustration Does anyone else have this problem. I have learned that no department picks up their phones. You must leave a message.

I'm super disappointed with the front desk. If I call 5 times to inform them that I'll be less 10 minutes late, and they aren't able to pick up (when there was plenty of staff working said front desk), I don't except to have my appointment cancelled for me before I walk in the door. If the front desk had time to cancel my appointment before I arrived, then they definitely had time to pick up the phone before I arrived. Extremely disappointed - will not return.

this is literally the most unorganized, incompetent front desk workers i've ever met. like holy crap you call 10 times and they still don't pick up. the doctors are amazing, but the front office is so bad and they are always delayed.

I gave a one because "Zero" was not an option. I called into to schedule an appt for cancer screening and had to wait 2 months (okay whatever) showed up at designated time and the front desk tells me they don't have any appt for me. There is a pattern for issues here with not returning calls left either on the main office voicemail or nurses station. Way to many instances of unprofessionalism or lack of service.
