My father stayed at Crystal Cove for 6 weeks in s2011 and my mother just finished a 2 month stay there so I feel I have a good familiarity with the facility. I was there almost every day and at various hours. I found the place to be clean and the staff incredibly competent and helpful. I saw the patients being treated with kindness and respect by the CNA's and nurses (Fernando, Reina,, Ruben, Paz) The physical therapy was VERY helpful. I would like to provide some feedback on the Crystal Cove Care Center for those who have to make the difficult decision to seek housing for a loved one requiring such a level of care. I placed my mom in Crystal Cove about a year and a half ago. I had evaluated several facilities and my mom's doctor felt Crystal Cove was the best. Hi my mom was there for about 6 weeks, great staff, the nurses were nice and caring, physical therapy was very good, the place is clean and the staff was very informative with the family whenever we had questions. Quality people!!

Crystal Cove is a lovely, clean, facility that my grandmother stayed in last month. There were big, well decorated rooms that had a lot of space for your equipment and visitors. The customer service was wonderful, the physical therapists were great, her medicines were on time, and the CNAs that were assisting her with showering / activities of daily living were very professional and provided quality service and assistance. Nurses have too many patients to care for. Because of this, patients must wait to get help anywhere from 15 to 30+ minutes to get help- especially if you must have help to use the restroom. The nurses are wonderful and do their best with few exceptions... The food is mediocre often with the same thing - aka "mystery meat " - lots of food covered with gravy to disguise whatever is under it. ****NEW UPDATE *** I thought the facility had the final say and I was disappointed but not surprised by what they said. Not long after that awkward conversation , I received a call from the state and they told me what they found. I was vindicated on a few concerns and the facility will have to address and fix them. This conversation was much smoother and my anxieties were calmed by the investigator. The state DID substantiate my concerns and complaints. I spent 5 nights here with leg injury. Unable to walk in diapers spending much of that time calling for help. The food uses mostly processed ingredient. My special dietary needs were not followed for three days. Showers 3 times a week. The rooms/beds/ showers are outdated!

Quick update: I reported my adequate care and experience to the state, an investigation took place. Unfortunately the facility sided with the employees. I was told my claims couldn't be substantiated. Sort of a he said she said scenario. I can't really blame employees for not coming forward, they have to work there. I am disappointed that someone I thought I could trust did not come through for me, the patient. I already knew this was going to be the outcome. It's unfortunate for the patients. I have mixed feelings about this place. There are some things they do very well. The best shifts are Days and Swings. However Graveyard is absolutely terrible. My short stint there could have been so much better. I was there for rehab after knee replacement surgery. Graveyard made me anxious and intimidated. I was in a vulnerable place and just tried to ride it out. One final incident was enough for me to speak out.
