Do not trust when they tell you that your payment has been cancelled. called work out a plan to pay on a different day but they still drafted my account. And refused to refund the money back. Leaving it to where I could not get groceries for my 11 yr old and 2 yr old. Company claims they care but show nothing of the sort. When asked to speak to a supervisor, I was refused. This company is HORRIBLE!!! A guy hit me over a month ago and it's been tooth and nails to get this resolved. It took them a month to finally get back to tell me my car is totaled and still haven't heard back about my options and to finish this isssue. It's been over a month now and I'm having to call them each day to try to get a hold of them! Worse customer service I've had to deal with!!!
Lord help you if you have a wreck with someone that has Elephant. There client hit me and totaled out of my car. The car was worth around 5500 they offered me 1700... Theres no way you could possible buy that exact car with less then 100k miles like mine for 1700. Then they came back and said that was the market value for my car... What market? ***** ****** ****?
My debit card was stolen at Christmas and they weren't able to get my automatic payment. They cancelled my policy at 2:30 am and notified me via email. I called them at 9 am the same day to give them my new card info and they raised my rate **** a year. I was on the phone with them for over an hour. Then they feed me some garbage that they were doing me a favor by not charging me a higher rate for having a lapse in my policy. It gets better. Then they took my payment and told me I won't have coverage until the next day.
My experience is that Elephant's rates feel like a bait-and-switch -- a great rate to get you signed on, and then constant changes and increases due to "new" information that was available to them at time of purchase. My rate was raised by about $500 per year for an incident that A) happened a full year before I signed on with Elephant, B) I had disclosed to them at the time of the quote, and C) in which I was NOT at fault and the other driver's insurance took responsibility. The worst don't waste your time
Elephant Insurance is a terrible company. Never ever do a policy with them. They are ridiculous and they will overcharge you somehow. After you start the policy with them, they will contact you that underwriting found an issue with your history and increasing the rate. It is like ripping you off, you would have to pay the overcharges or your policy will be cancelled and you will be in trouble for finding another company. The day I made a claim, the agent informed me that my policy was going to cancel in 7 days because I could not prove my address with a lease in my name. So I asked her why haven't I received prior notice in regards to this matter either by mail or email? She said a letter was going out to me that day, which I never received. Only thing I received was a cancellation notice and reminder that my next payment would automatically be deducted from my checking account on 12/29/16. The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my 22 years of driving. They don't return phone calls they don't take care of any of their emails that they're supposed to be corresponding with. My vehicle was totaled and sitting at a body shop for 3 weeks with no return calls.
