This company is a total SCAM! Just keep asking for the same information Over & over just a stall tactic not to pay Horrible company!!!!

Business response:

We are sorry to hear of your frustration with the claims process, ****** In order to process an accident or illness claim we do need your pet's complete medical history on file as our terms and conditions state: Part II – Conditions 8. By purchasing a policy, you give us permission to gather all medical history for your Pet(s) from all your Veterinary Providers as we deem necessary. The medical information must contain detailed Veterinarian examination findings and must be made available to us for review to satisfy the exami... read more

I submitted 12 Claims from services for my pet in 2023 and 2024, ranging from cough, diarrhea, tick illness, vomiting, and ear infections. My claims were submitted in April 2024. By September 1, 2024 only 4 had been reviewed and denied. 8 claimed were pending. By October 19, when I canceled my policy at the 12 month renewal, those 8 remained unprocessed despite my Vet supplying full medical history at enrollment of the policy, and again in Sept. No surprise, ALL 12 CLAIMS were denied. They want to upsell you to "Wellness rew... read more

EMBRACE insurance is absolute trash! I had my 7 month GR get severe walking issues and yes vomiting due to an inner ear infection we did not see coming since he did not present any symptoms. The poor puppy felt like the room was spinning so he could not help but throw up. I spent 3300$ in a vet visit, an ER visit, and a Neurologist Consult. THEY refused to even help with a little bit because my dog had VOMITING as a "diagnosis" Before getting on this stupid insurance. VOMITING IS NOT A DIAGNOSIS people its a SYMPTOM. UNLESS ... read more

Complete scam company, they will have no problem approving your purchase of the policy upfront and then if you try to submit a claim, they will have 100 lame reasons why they want to weasel out of it afterwards. Don’t waste your money, these people are only interested in ripping you off.

Business response:

Dear BBB, I would be happy to discuss the case with you. *******policy was purchased on 6/30/24 and had an effective date, which started on 7/2/24, and a 14-day illness waiting period, which ended on 7/16/24. Our policy requires a medical review for all pets before we can process an illness claim, so we can determine any pre-existing conditions since those are excluded from coverage. This review can be requested by the policyholder during or after signup and if not requested, it is not completed until the first eligible illn... read more

Claims got declined because of a non-existing "pre-existing condition", my cat got into a fight with my little kitten and had some scratches on his back 7 months ago during a wellness exam, recently I found out that he has been scratching his head and after testing, he has mild allergy with pork, beef(which I did not feed). Embrace refused to reimburse me for the related visits and claims that these are all "pre-existing condition" even with the doctor notes saying that it was no sign of allergy.

Rates went through the roof! We just got out annual policy renewal notice and our rates increased by nearly 200%. They want $2100 for a year-long coverage policy for our 5 and 8 year old dog. The policy increased nearly this much last year as well, but I thought it must be a fluke and couldn’t happen again. To pay over $1000 per dog for a $5000 policy seems a little much. I have to cancel by the end of the month before the plan renews.

Business response:

Hello *****, thank you for reaching out. We know a premium increase is never ideal. Premiums do increase over time with all insurance products, and pet insurance is no exception. Some of the factors that impact premiums each year include the age of a pet, tenure of the policy, and inflation which includes the increase in veterinary costs. Our premiums are based on actuarial data of all the policies we have in force. Over the lifetime with any pet insurance company you are likely to see very similar trends, it just may vary w... read more

We submitted a claim 2.5 months ago and they email us repeatedly asking for an itemized bill or medical history forms that I’ve sent repeatedly. Their customer service rep said it’s takes 30 business days to review paperwork to then pay. Do not expect to get reimbursed.

Business response:

We are sorry to hear of your frustration with the claims process, Alexis. Although we try to process claims as quickly as possible, sometimes it can take longer to process the first accident or illness claim as we gather your pet’s complete medical history. Obtaining medical history is a process we are continuously working to improve. We work directly with your vet to gather any additional medical records needed to review your pet’s complete medical history and we copy you on any email request to keep you in the loop. The go... read more

Claims got denied because the vet did X-ray, cleaning and extractions at the same time. Embrace declined due to pre existing plaque buildup. AND that the pet should have been put under to get his teeth cleaning and than put under again for extractions. For the heath of the pet the vets recommended not putting the dog under multiple times. I got a letter from the vet explaining that they do X-rays, cleaning than extractions for the HEALTH of the pet. Embrace does not care about the health of the pet. Claim DENIED even with a ... read more

Hello ***, I would be happy to address this case. When a policy is purchased with Embrace Pet Insurance (EPI), there is a 48-hour accident waiting period and a 14-day illness waiting period. Once a pet is past the 14-day illness waiting period, an email is sent asking if the pet parent would like a medical history review completed to determine if there are any pre-existing conditions prior to a claim being submitted. If they do, we request the records for this pet from all the clinics the pet has been to within 12 months pri... read more
