Disgusted!!! This company was hired to move my mother in law from PA to OK, they were supposed to begin loading at 9:00 am and didn't show until 3:00 pm with no contact. During the packing and loading process of 11 hours the foreman became extremely intoxicated, passed out and had to be carried out of the house! We were given no driver contact info and told that they had to drive the truck, full of belongings, back to NJ because they have a different crew that drives and unloads. To reiterate other reviews here, Empire initially presented as a national moving company and the company is not a national moving company. The sales representative did not openly disclose that the company is a broker and also guaranteed verbally that the belongings would be delivered within 5-7 business days. The initial estimate was not transparent as the cost to date has doubled. We have been awaiting our belongings for going on a month and still no delivery date has been set. ******. I would avoid this company with a 20 ft. Pole. I was helping my daughter and son in law with a move to Phoenix. We had several conversations with the sales rep (****) about the detailed contents of what was to be moved. We were required to put down a $1,870 deposit to start the process and the cost of the move was estimated at $5K. Crew that came to pick up our belongings in Ct were very professional, fast yet cautious. Crew that arrived a week later to deliver our belongings in NC very different. If we learned nothing else in our recent moving experience it is never use a broker. They had a great salesman who sold us a bill of good and in retrospect had no concern about our move other than making a sale. When problems arose and we tried to speak with him he was not available. After asking for him multiple times it was apparent that he no longer worked there but no else we spoke to would admit that. Empire Moving Group advertises as an experience out of state moving company. In this case THEY ARE NOT a moving company. They are a moving broker, who sets up your contract, establishes your per cubic foot rate, taxes, etc.. and estimates your inventory. They then sell your contract to an actual moving company, once of which you yourself WOULD NEVER hire directly. And you don't even know this until 3 days before your scheduled move! Hello, The details of being a broker is on the 1st and 2nd page of the agreement that is sent to you prior to collecting a deposit. EMG does not sell out anything. We have a network of specific motor carriers that we use in each region of the United States. The motor carrier is not hidden, if any client wishes to know who the carrier is assigned to their file all they need to do is ask. All of our carriers are vetted and licensed bonded and insured.
NOT MOVERS: Disrespectful, unprofessional. Scheduled a move for Tues: no call to advise a "window" time-frame for arrival. They rescheduled for Wed - which was not convenient due to my work...they were scheduled for the evening- then they were delayed and rescheduled AGAIN - I burned 2 PTO days and was incredibly patient. They were scheduled for Thursday am. No show...I call again talking with different dispatchers who tell me to expect a call from the driver. The first driver had a breakdown so a new driver was dispatched in order to get your items picked up as quickly as possible. While that driver was in route the original driver was able to fix his mechanical issue and still make it to your location. That is why you received two conflicting pick up times. They subcontracted my move to a company who then subcontracted to someone else. Charged me three times for stairs. Do not use them

Hello, Your items were picked up and delivered by All Points Moving and Storage. You were aware of this and signed the paperwork at the time of pick up as well. The charges for stairs were for your 3 flights of stairs. Our agreement specifies $75 per flight and that is what you were charged. Moving items up and down stairs adds additional labor for obvious reasons.
If I could give them no stars I would! First off they are not a moving company. They are the middle man. Any money that you pay to them goes straight into their pocket. When the real moving company comes, the one they have decided on, you find out that Empire underbid and the moving company can not do it for the price they gave you. So what did I do?
