Nice looking but had roaches in the bathroom
reasonable location, but room was musty We were looking for a place to stay while moving our freshman son into UC Berkeley. We booked late, so this was the best-value location we could find on the way, that was halfway between Oakland Airport and the Berkeley campus. So far so good. Though the lobby is nice, the room seemed quite old & tired in terms of furnishings and surfaces. And, there was a musty smell in the room, especially in the bathroom. Smoking smell at non smoking room. Holes on blankets. White Hairs on the sheet. Not ours. Bugs... Too much noise from refrigerator ......

Location worked, otherwise merely tolerable. staff and amenities nearly non-existent, but tolerable for one night in convenient location. Seemed new outside, like a well worn mote inside and bedding, etc.

Disappointing I've been coming to this hotel for years. They've gradually stripped it of all amenities. They don't even have any plates in the room anymore and you have to "check them out" like library books. There wasn't even a plastic laundry bag! The staff are rude. The breakfast is a joke. All they put our are apples,granola bars and instant oatmeal. On top of everything else we requested a non smoking room. Don't stay here I guess I didn't read the fine print when I booked this place. They only clean the rooms, change the sheets and change the towels once a week. I was told I had to pay an extra $10 a day for these services. They did graciously offer to "swap out" my towels if I brought them down to the front desk. (Can you imagine lugging a bunch of wet towels around a hotel?!) They did not provide shampoo! When I called about it they said I could come down to the front desk and get some. We had a check in / reservation problem (only showed one room but we booked 2 through Expedia). It may have been an Expedia error not the hotel's, but we don't know. The Front Desk agents were very polite and helpful and worked to get the problem resolved. One of the two rooms was not clean when we arrived. Toe nail clippings on the carpet and sink in the bathroom not clean. They do not clean rooms while you are in house and you have to ask for every amenity, including hair dryer and coffee maker, which was inconvenient. The... read more
