We have applied for and closed on many mortgages over the years. We have never had such a difficult process of trying to close, ever. The loan officer was professional but the support team was disorganized and there was a lack of communication. We sent the same documentation multiple times and was asked to submit documents up until the last few days before closing.When we got to closing, there were still surprises which had to be corrected. Would recommend Frank but not Mutual of Omaha.

During the escrow, Discover offered me a no cost refinance. I emailed Frank and asked if Mutual could at least give me a credit for the amount of the appraisal- $545. He said maybe Mutual could give me a float down. I followed up by email and his response was that I did not qualify for a float down. Instead he offered me a $200 additional credit. I did not feel good about the offer but accepted it because I was afraid that rates would go up. Total closing costs -$1,200. Discover -$0.

Working with Frank was fine, but as soon as I signed the dotted line to proceed with our refi, I never heard from Frank again. I had to provide the same information MANY times to and working with Melissa McCarley was terrible... she kept asking for information, refused to call me to clarify what she needed, wasted her time and mine, and seemed to be trying to prevent me from getting my loan approved instead of helping me. She was terrible!

The total incompetence of your staff was tremendously frustrating. So many delays, so many “Oh, we also need this”. With my credit and documentation this process should have been 30 days at most. You guys took 5 months. Absolutely ridiculous! If it hadn’t been so cheap we would have walked. In fact, we had started the refi process with another lender when you guys finally came through. Never again.

Better communication between Frank and his assistant, better communication of the process, and overall just his attitude was not pleasant. Not rude, just not friendly.
