Nightmare. Do not go to the Alderwood location unless you want to be ripped off and disappointed. I have a pixie cut (very short cut) and was charged for a partial foil/color and haircut $342 and a haircut and style $104. I'm told that I wasn't charged twice for a haircut and that's just how they do it in their system when someone is getting a cut after a color. I suggest fixing the system to not make it look like you are ripping people off. I left looking worse than when I went in and I had $500 less in my pocket. My color... read more

I am so sad to write this review of a once highly regarded establishment. I have been coming to this company for 10 years - not exclusively. I grew up in Seattle and couldn't wait for the day I could afford to come here for a haircut! In fact, the wonderful person who cuts my hair was trained by Gene Juarez. I've been going to Gene Juarez for many years and was never disappointed. Unfortunately, my recent balayage was highly disappointing. I came in looking for a nice brown/caramel, natural looking balayage and came out with a brassy ombre look. The front desk was very understanding and booked my color correction at another gene Juarez location. Nicole cut my hair into a shag!! not what I asked for - who would ask for a shag? the underneath layer was considerably shorter than the top layers, sides were too short. Left with a shag instead of long layers like I asked for.

This is my last time coming here! I previously came here in 2020, and this was their 2nd chance of redemption. My hair cut is uneven, and that long strand totally missed. The stylist is friendly but I have come to the conclusion that every single person working here never goes outside for training. They use the same technique. I requested a stylist who knew how to cut curly hair and could do a shag. I was paired with Atusa, who was very nice, but not very skilled. I ended up walking out with a trim, bangs, and maybe a few layers. NOT A SHAG. I don't even think she knows how to style curly hair because it looked a mess. I ended up finding YouTube tutorials on how to cut a shag to get more of the shape I initially wanted. For the price that I paid, the quality was poor. Not going again. not a good vibe. this is my third haircut after covid and it's so bad. she butchered my bangs! she didn't even ask me! she just started parting them and cut and now i'm straight across and they are soooo short! Hair cuts have been a disaster for me most of my life. I saw Atusa at Alderwood. I felt there was zero customer service. Usually my experience at Gene Juarez has been good and this brand is known for luxury, well I felt like I was at a student salon or something. I felt like if I wanted to asked any questions I got a weird look like I was annoying her and she was annoyed with me the whole time. Won't be going back. Cut was ok.

After over 25 years of getting my hair cut at Gene Juarez, I've decided to move on. The salon has changed and no longer has the luxurious feel it used to have.
