**Message for African-American Customers ** Scheduled a hair appointment today to receive a signature blow dry. I drove all the way down to Lynnwood just to be told that they couldn't do my hair. Apparently, I was accidentally scheduled down for a 45 min hair appointment and was told that they wouldn't have enough time to do my hair. They only had one hairdresser familiar with African American hair. I received a voicemail on the morning of my sisters wedding that the person scheduled to do my hair for the wedding wasn't going to be in and would I like to reschedule... no apology or attempt to find someone else to come in or squeeze me in between appointments. Absolutely unacceptable and completely unprofessional. My Stylist Jason is excellent but the Gene Juarez experience is a nightmare. I had a confirmed appointment at 3pm. When I arrived at 3:05pm I was advised Jason had left at 2:30pm and I did not have an appointment with Jason. After much whispering Jason was found and he had been waiting for me but not had been advised. Me, my sister, and my dads girlfriend all came in to get our hair dyed and 2 haircuts. We paid $850 for all of our services. With tip my service came out to about $400 alone. I am highly disappointed in the services they provided. For $400 my hair is no where close to where I wanted it and instead of a balyage it looks like I have orange highlights. My mom was visiting and she wanted to get facials, and this was the only place that could accommodate both of us at the same time. I was really hoping to go to a local salon and to support a small business but most of them only have 1 aesthetician working, so can only accommodate 1 person at a time. My facial was great, it even included a hand massage. Staff were nice as well and my aesthetician offered product advice when we were done. As a nurse during a pandemic who suffered a lot of trauma working at the hospital, I thought I would finally do some self-care by booking my first-ever appointment at Gene Juarez since they had a welcome 50% off code. I got a confirmation online regarding how much I was going to pay-$50 for a haircut and $117 for color. I got my cut and color and it was wonderful. Aren't we in the midst of a pandemic? You wouldn't know it here! This place was PACKED. Social distance = not an option. No way was this even a little observed AT ALL!! Let me preface this by saying, I have been going to Gene Juarez for the past 4 years and have NEVER had an issue. Always came out happy with my results. Not this time. I went in for a balayage a week ago today, hoping to look & feel beautiful after my appt. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Never trust to people at the front desk. My 2nd visit for a haircut I'm getting someone who was called an "awesome" but left the salon and feel like I signed up for them to practice on me. The last haircut was the worst. I'm not even saying how many imperfections I can see and I'm not a hairstylist.
