Updating my review from 5 years ago and upgrading as well!! I called the salon this morning at 10:40 asking if they had any appointments available in the next half hour or so. To my surprise they did !! I've been wanting to cut my hair so bad and surprise my boyfriend but I work so much and don't have childcare on my day off so this last minute on a whim appointment was my hope ! Staff is super friendly and professional, spacious salon and very relaxing spa. I wish the music was a little less... rap/r&b but its not like other salons with club music blaring. I went looking for JACKSON and apparently she's gone... very frustrating how much hairdressers are always moving around.. I can't give the salon a bad review because I can't find my stylist because theres no denying its excellent. All my friends went there because of Jackson so now Im waiting for one of them to try someone to see how it goes lol.

I went here for a haircut and color. I was kind of hesitant because of the price, but it was so worth it. I decided to go brown with my hair and I really like the way it turned out. I also cut several inches off and I'm really liking it so far. Usually after a few days my hair doesn't look as good as it did when I walked out of the salon, but I still think it looks amazing. Last year I had my hair cut at Regis and paid well over 200...Gene Juarez is so much better and surprisingly cheaper.

I have been coming here for years, and have usually had a good experience in both the salon and spa. However, in the past year, it seems that things have been going downhill. I went to the spa yesterday for four hours worth of services. The spa was dirty (the floor wasn't vacuumed, the bathroom was dirty and there were no paper towels, and there were smudges and dust on most of the surfaces), and the services seemed rushed. Always a 5-star experience! I've been a customer for over 20 years at the Tacoma salon, sometimes I have a disappointing experience, but when that rarely happens and I tell the manager, they always find a way to improve things and I leave super happy! My hair color and cut I only go to Gene Juarez as their office hours and level of professionalism is head-and-shoulders better than others in town.

I always choose Gene Juarez because I know I can trust my fine, curly hair to the expertise there but tonight I received such excellent service and care that I wanted to give a shout out to Sonny and Courtney. These ladies were so genuine and down to earth, we were chatting and laughing the whole time! They made me feel incredibly comfortable and also cared for. Very efficient colorists in this location. Excellent customer service. You are provided a robe, coffee or tea or water during the visit. Staff are mindful of guests needs and so not rush you. Current reading materials. Spacious with different available service

This review comes about a month after my first experience and review. After that review I was promptly contacted by one of the guest relations managers, Colleen. We spoke via email and though there was a delay in her response which almost made me write them off forever, I gave them another shot. Today I met Amanda. She is one of the Men's stylists at this location and she is phenomenal. We spoke about the previous cut and she did a quick assessment. The customer service here is quite amazing. I walked up to the service desk and the two attendants there were able to make me an appointment right away and offered me coffee, tea or water while I waited. Darian cut my hair and did a great job. She was very helpful in teaching me about hair care as well. I definitely recommend Gene Juarez Tacoma.
