Had appointment, checked and was told to take a seat. Nobody told me I needed to go to barber section, waited for 30mins. Finally I asked and was told I was in the wrong area. That would be understandable if the receptionists weren't right in front. Of course there were no other appointments available. Never going to this place again.

I had a big work event and was excited to have my regular haircut touched up. I asked for collar bone length and layers long enough to put in a ponytail and even provided a photo (being a cosmetologist myself I always loved when my guests provide photos for clarification.) she took a glance at the photo and moved on... I left the salon with hair way above my shoulders, that I can barely put up into a low ponytail before it all falls out of the elastic. This is the haircut I got at Gene Juarez. Unbelievably chopped up, and uneven, as if a child has cut it with craft scissors. I've tried styling it natural-curly, blow-dried wavy, straight, in a ponytail - it's invariably awful, and it'll be at least a year before it's long enough to fix. Gene Juarez has refused to refund me for this nightmare service "because I've already received a redo". i have been going to gene juarez for over 15 yrs at the alderwood location. unfortunately some people working there have psychological issues that should not arise in this field of work. i have been seeing camden for color and she seemed good, but when i went to her for a style she took 10 mins to do and charged 100 dollars. all i said was is this 100 dollar style and she said yup. i left after my appointment and made another separate appointment for color and the next day i got a call from a manager saying camden does not w... read more

Yikes Gene Juarez, what happened to you? I attended the GJ school fifteen years ago, the school services were great and I loved how professional everyone was including the students. Today I called what I thought was the University Village number to make an appointment, a lady answered asking me for my information, I said I just wanted to ask about some services I wanted done. Stylist left bleach on my hair for almost 40 minutes so she could fit in another guest. Left with platinum roots on my dark blonde hair. Called the next day to ask if I could come in and get some toner put on and they never called back (I called multiple times). Had to go to another salon and pay to get it fixed. Terrible customer service.

I have gotten my hair cut here twice now, and have found the experience to be pretty average. The prices are astronomical, the environment is pretty glam but overstimulating with how large it is and the loud music, and the U Village an be pretty stressful to navigate at times. My first haircut was straightforward, no fuss, no real memorable issues or outstanding comments. The second haircut was a struggle. The worst experience ever paid 90 and got basic haircut and the stylist didn't even want to give me a hair wash !!

When I checked in no one offered to take my coat. Waiting area is very small and was full. I had to sit on a bench close to the fire which was too hot! The work spaces were old and hadn't been cleaned in a while. The chairs at the shampoo station were ripped. As I sat there the floor shook, it was the washing machine! Not inviting at all. I won't be back to this location.
