Poor Birthday Dinner It was a loud environment. The waitress with the long black hair and bangs was inept. I don’t know her name since she didn’t tell us. We sat at Table 1. We had to stack our own appetizers plates to make room for the meals. Slow service. Drink sitting at bar for quite awhile before bringing it to the table. Bread basket small and had cheese on it. Chicken overly covered with sauce. Filet was nothing to write home about. We should have gone to Tiberon in Fishers. Always phenomenal there.
Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. We ordered an appetizer first. Two different sets of appetizer plates were dirty. The fried pretzels were hard and the quest cheese was cold. One entree had cold sides while the other chicken was hot. The two steak sliders were full of fat. The bologna sandwich use to be full of meat. It barely had any on the bun and wasn’t very warm. Usually, we’ve always had a great experience. Maybe it being Sunday and not busy was the cause of this unfortunate food. The server was very nice!
Business response:
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize that your recent visit did not meet the high standards we aim to provide. It is disappointing to hear about the issues with the appetizer plates and the quality of the fried pretzels, as well as the temperature inconsistencies with your entrees. We appreciate your feedback regarding the bologna sandwich, as we continuously strive to improve our offerings. We're glad to hear that our server provided friendly service, but we know that the quality of food is ... read more
Our food was disappointing! The bright spot was the ribs which were good. The fish was salty and greasy. The baked potato was baked several days prior and the mashed potatoes were gray. The Cole slaw was dry lacking dressing. All in all not a good experience. We have dined here several months ago and it was good. Definitely gone down hill!
Business response:
Hi Jim, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed our ribs and the service. However, we're sorry to hear that your experience with our food didn't meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on our culinary offerings and it's disappointing to know that we fell short. We appreciate your input and will use it to improve. We hope you'll give us another chance to impress you in the future. Best, The Management Team at Grindstone Public House
Whole experience was terrible. Server messed up our bill, no one at the restaurant could explain. They were more worried about a bad review than anything.
Business response:
Sherri, I can assure you this is not the norm for our operations. I would like to look into this further. Please call me at 317.774.5740. My name is Alan, I am the GM. We would like to correct any mistake that has been made. Thank you, and we apologize for the issue with your payment.
They messed up our bill. When we asked them to correct it, they couldn’t provide proof the credit charge had been corrected, they just wanted us to pay the new amount when they couldn’t proved they had cancelled the first. The I received notice they added a 69% tip to the first amount. Watch your credit card here.

In my open table notes had requested to not be sat next to children, I was taken to the only room that had children in it and they tried to sit us as a table next to 2 tables with 4 or more toddlers or babies. I said no, I wanted to move and the hostess was visibly upset. As a parent of a child, when I have a child free night, the last thing I want to do is pay $100 to listen to kids whine and cry while I eat. I was moved and we got our server who talked poorly about the entertainment, talked poorly about the kitchen, asked ... read more

This was my first time dining at Grindstone Public House. We had reservations for 2 at 5:15 p.m. The host was not very friendly and proceeded to walk us up a rather long flight of stairs to our table. I would have appreciated him asking us beforehand if walking up a flight of stairs was okay with us, as we are not spring chickens, rather than assume it was. Once we got to our table, he proceeded to seat us at a small 2 top that was sandwiched in between two 4 tops. I asked if we could have a larger table since there were sti... read more

The server was scarcely seen. The appetizers took forever. The server brought my dinner salad at the same time as the appetizers. Both $30 rack of ribs were so burnt you couldn’t recognize them and any meat had been burned off yet they still tried to serve them by covering them with barbecue sauce.
I looked forward to trying this establishment for long time. I was very disappointed. First, I must say the service was excellent. It's really nice they keep a bottle of water on the table so you don't run out. The decor is very well done. However; I do note that the place is so dark it's not easy to navigate the dark floor. The darkness was so pronounced I had to use my cell phone flashlight to read the menu. I did observe others doing the same. I heard the fried green tomatoes were such a large portion it would serve two. ... read more
