    Blotchy printing I bought this to do foiling projects and straight out of the box the printer drum was dirty and caused blotchy prints. Even after cleaning it there's dots and debris everywhere. Doesn't print well on card stock at all. Will probably return.

    Now I Know Why It Is "Dash Replenishable Ready" I thought the dash replenishable claim was for toner. Nope. Bought this machine in April 2020 and in Dec 2021 it failed. It hasn't printed since the week before Christmas. It won't turn on and a number of tutorials say remove the printer power. It's not removable on this model. You can plug or unplug it, but the printer end of the cable comes already fixed to the machine.     The headaches aren't worth the price Bought this after the Wirecutter recommendation. Regretted the purchase ever since: + Documentation and display haven't been updated in 10+ years. + Support site is confusing, content isn't helpful and crashes frequently. Representatives didn't respond clearly to repeated questions. Impossible to find a phone number + Their toner is a scam. Printer is set to throttle toner by default. "Replace Toner" message appears before toner is actually empty. Changing the setting is annoying and hard... read more

    Worst printer - user UNfriendly This has been a 2-year exercise in pure frustration. First, the positives: when the printer works (40% of the time or less), the print is crisp and pages print fairly quickly. The bad: I have failed 10x more than I've succeeded in installing the printer driver (I got a new laptop so I've had the displeasure of going through this multiple times) or installing the updates from Brother.     Died Purchased through reseller on Amazon. Worked fine for six months and now doesn't even power up.

    SO... MANY... PAPER... JAMS I've had the printer for 18 months and live with about 2 in 10 pages getting jammed. I have tried new toner cartridges. No more Brother products for me... do not buy this printer.

    Damaged This printer has a quarter inch black line front and back on printed pages. I’ll be returning it — very disappointed.

    always offline Worked for awhile but then it started constantly going offline. Have to restart it regularly and even then it/s 50/50 whether it gets back online. No help from Brother other than to suggest updating drivers (they're up to date).
