problems with paper very disappointed with this printer. Always says that there us no paper, with no reason :( also, the tech service does NOT help.
Printer will not accept new genuine toner cartridge, says out of toner still. Why are printers so bad. I got this as a solution to the ridiculously expensive inkjet printers. It worked fine for 6 months. Then I ran out of toner. I replaced it with a high capacity genuine Brother toner. The out of toner message will not go away. I cannot print. I have tried every permutation on the setup menus. I cannot print. Furious. Bravo Brother, you suck.
Doesn't seem to be supported anymore what can I say? Sleeps the second you stop pushing any button on the device, and won't connect to anything..download the latest drivers from their website and it says the drivers are out of date and it can't connect.
May the Gods be with you when you set up WiFi printing This is a capable little printer once you get it connected to WiFi. I'm running Mac OS 10.14. Getting it to connect after I first bought it was a total nightmare. I've since moved and have a new router so I'm going through the nightmare again. The set-up wizard finds my router with no problem but it won't connect. The 271-page user's manual is no help. Brother's online support is no help. Apparently printers have not changed since the 90's. Printer quality is wonderful. Print speed is also wonderful. Everything else is garbage. This printer feel like what people joke about when they talk about printers. It has problems connecting, the support pages are hilariously outdated, the menu is a UX nightmare. Most of the time the best solution to fix this printer is to unplug it, wait, and then pray that fixed whatever errors plague the software of this relic of terrible technology. Really. Not worth it If the Ebola Virus were to manifest itself in the form of a printer, this is what you would get. Go with a more user friendly model that doesn’t require an electrical engineering degree to set up.
Don't believe the hype Truly a time sink garbage product... I have owned dozens of printers. This was my first laser. It will be my last brother product. I despise the product and the company behind it. It's cheap crap. Worked once. Software/driver/setup is a cumbersome joke... overall the engineering/manufacturing/qa is just horrible. I can not stress enough how much I truly have hated this product, because I hate products that steal time. If you value your time you'll buy a different brand.
Prints well but menu display bad I bought this for my home office. It was somewhat difficult to set up, but the print quality is quite good. However, all heck broke loose when I installed a new modem and the printer couldn't connect. I then discovered that changing the settings was almost impossible. There is no MENU button, so you just have to use trial and error to figure out and change the settings. Dead after 1 year. The printer was ok. Finicky wifi setup didn't bother me too much. However, I purchased this back in May of 2019 and now it is dead. It was working just fine a week ago. It hasn't moved, there haven't been any short circuits, etc (the strip it was connected to works perfectly). I've tried connecting it to different sources but it just won't turn on.
