Very frustrating wireless setup and performance I have used and set up wifi devices for years. This is the single most frustrating and poorly designed wifi enabled piece of equipment I have ever used. Avoid this printer.
The worst Beware buying this printer. I purchased it a few weeks ago from Amazon. I loved the wired Brother b/w laser printer I had for years, but decided - foolishly it seems - to step up to wireless, and it's been nothing but trouble. I called Brother and had them walk me through resetting the wi-fi after it wouldn't "wake up" (a problem others here seem to have had). It worked once, then "fell asleep" again. printer not delivered printer not delivered
Worst Printer I purchased two of these and they both continually jam in the back after it prints before it returns to paper to the top. If I leave the rear door open, it doesn't jamb but the paper falls out the back. The same thing happens on both of my printers no matter what paper I use. I called Brother support twice and they have me do the same old troubleshooting steps until I get it to do a test print w/o jamming and they consider it fixed. Will not power on after one month After one month it will no longer power on. I am very dissatisfied.
You cannot connect to Mac even though it says you can I have been trying for TWO HOURS to connect this thing to my computer. When I bought an HP I turned it on, put in my password and network name and I was up and running. This thing is useless. I will have to buy a USB cable to use it. I am beyond frustrated! I have gone to the support site and downloaded the driver and it still does not show up on my computer after installation. Stay far away from this if you don't have an IT person in your house!
Toner didn't even last a month I purchased this printer back in Jan 19th. Today is Feb 15th and the printer says the toner needs to be replaced already....
Wireless Garbage I had this thing for four months and all of a sudden the wifi wont stay connected to my network. Tried everything possible (I am an IT by trade) and it will not work without being hard wired to my desktop. I have to share it across the network to use it from another device and it takes up way too much space. Hate this thing and plan to scrap it. Buy something else.
worked for a bit As soon as my housemate wirelessly printed a document using this printer I lost my ability to print with this printer. I downloaded and reinstalled the driver but that did not even work. What a huge waste of time.
