Booked a Ocean View vía Expedia, called the hotel to confirm the reservation. They assured that the room we booked, is the room assigned. Get to the hotel to discover that the room we have is NOT the room we reserved due to the hotel not updating the inventory with Expedia to reflect what they actually have available. We booked this hotel expecting a partial ocean view. Instead, we were greeted by a full blown construction site view, which was not only NOT what we paid for (this hotel is expensive) but also the hotel refused to give us a better room (even though we were willing to pay extra for such accommodation). Also, there was no housekeeping due to COVID (this was unbeknownst) they charge for parking, the curtain rail of our room was damaged, and if you want chairs/towels/cabana etc at the beach you have to pay extra and stand in lin... read more
The Hotel Del is iconic, however it is in great need of a face-lift and renovations. Its tired - very tired. Also, we stayed for a pre-Labor Day get away and the hotel seemed to be over-run with young-adults (kind of like Spring Break). Noisy nights in rooms across the hotel and parties spilling out into the hallways. Overall - a great location in Coronado - however until Hilton and the Hotel Del figure out who they want to be post-pandemic, Id stay away or find alternative accommodations. Rooms are disgusting! The room was filthy when we arrived. The bathroom was disgusting! See pictures below! We paid for an ocean view room and they offered to move us but the room we were relocated to didn’t have proper air conditioning. It instead had a single mobile air conditioner that had a hose attached to the window. The resort itself is beautiful but the condition of the rooms is not worth the price nor risking your health!
The hotel is under remodeling and the room they gave me was from the old part of the hotel which hasn’t been remodeled or taken well care of and the view was terrible! I asked for a full refound!
Do not stay here. My parents stayed in another room and had even a worse experience than the following. We stayed in a studio suit Victorian full ocean view. Where do I start with what was wrong. The room was dirty, the carpets stained throughout hotel, everything smelled of bon fire and so my clothes smelled that way until we could do our wash, toilet backed up, shower backed up, Not enough staff, long wait times to ask for help, beds are old and not comfortable.
