Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking a moment of your time to review our hotel. I appreciate your input and hope to improve on your next stay. Sincerely, Harold Rapoza Jr. General Manager
BEEN THERE DONE THAT NOT AGAIN The walk to checkin to the hotel was a distance from parking. Once we checkedin our room was a 15 to 20 min walk down the beach board walk to the rooms. Needless to say we were never told about the construction. Pulling suitcases and a bad knee this was terrible. I would have never thought I would need to walk 15 mins to our room. If you eat the hotel and they ask if you would like to charge to your room DON'T that is an additional $35 dollar charge. I have never been to a hotel you are charged... read more
Hotel in construction, noisy, rundown
Business response:
Dear DANIEL, I’m sorry we left you with this impression. I completely understand your frustrations and sincerely apologize for our restoration work impacting your stay. There are exciting changes to come and I hope you return one day to enjoy the restored glory of the Hotel del Coronado. Sincerely, Harold Rapoza Jr. General Manager
The Sheerwater Buffet was horrible and at $39 per person was a total ripoff. It cost me $226 for 4 people, so when I complained on the hotel website about a partial refund, all they did was message me back and forth until I finally gave up. I grew up in San Diego and always considered the Hotel Del Coronado a magical place but after this horrible experience I will never go back!
Travelocity said $708.70 for 2 days. The hotel charge was $859.90. Quite a difference!!
There is major construction happening across most of the property with loud trucks, earth moving, concrete sawing starting before 7:00 AM each day. Our room was tired and dirty. The staff seems uninterested and not able to handle either the workload or the systems. At this price, I'd expect way better, and it reflects very poorly on the Hilton brand.
Business response:
Dear Jeff, Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. We try our best to shield the restoration work from our guests, but we’re not always successful as we strive to be. I’m terribly sorry for the improvement work impacting your stay. I value your feedback and will be addressing the topics you brought up with my team in order to create future exceptional Del experiences for all guests. Thanks for your input and I hope you allow us the opportunity to make things right one day. Sincerely, Harold Rapoza Jr. General Manager
Only the location saves this old hotel There was a very noisy construction site outside our window. We Could not believe that they would even put guests in those rooms. They moved us after first night to a very old, weird smelling room in the main building. Hotel needs a complete renovation, family friendly dining options, And More people manning the front desk. But, the location is truly exceptional.
Business response:

We are currently making the necessary improvements to not only enhance guests’ experiences, but to preserve the legendary charm of our 131-year-old hotel. I’m sorry our restoration work impacted your stay, but there are beautiful changes to come and I hope you return one day to enjoy the restored glory. Sincerely, Harold Rapoza Jr. General Manager
AVOID this overpriced construction zone This hotel is under a massive renovation that very negatively impacts the guest experience. If you are currently planning a stay you should rethink your decision. The towers are surrounded by construction that begins early in the morning and lasts all day. If you plan on sleeping past 8:00 am you will find it quite difficult as the sounds of construction are everywhere. The beach is nice but don’t go in the water as signs indicate raw sewage may be present and result in illness. The re... read more

We booked the ocean view, but actually we could not see any see, because there are many tree leaves.
Business response:
Dear Baseball, Thank you for the feedback. I’m very sorry our vegetation inhibited your ocean view—I would feel equally disappointed in your position. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and I will be tackling this issue immediately. Sincerely, Harold Rapoza Jr. General Manager
