Late check-in mix-up. If not for the odor in the room, it would’ve been fine. The room had a funky odor. There was some type of room freshener packets attach to the fan, but it didn’t cover the odor. I called at 6 pm to say we’d be arriving very late ( like 2 or 3 am) but to please hold the reservation. Fair I booked a deluxe room with two Queen beds and paid a high nightly rate of $260 a night as myself and two female friends were staying for to run the New Jersey marathon. When I checked in I was told that I could pay a late checkout fee of $20 extra per hour for a total of $280/night which is a lot to pay considering the room goes for $100/night usually. I am disappointed in booking.com. My price was very over inflated and it was not the quality advert Hotel was old and worn. None of my requests were honored. Asked for high floor got first floor. Asked for quiet area got front on highway. Asked for early check in and Was refused. Offered early in did $15 an hour indicating room was available that is outrageous. Will never book there again. We had requested an early check in which was denied, we also requested an upper level that we didn't get. The hallways had an awful smell. The girls at the front desk were very nice, even though they couldn't accommodate our requests.
