Complaint: After purchasing a bathroom light fixture the (halogen) light covers are falling out of the fixture. On May 22, 2014 I purchased 2 ******* ***** Nickel 25" Wide Bathroom Wall Lights (Style ******* from the Lamps Plus #30 store in Denver, at 1547 S. Colorado Blvd. Approximately four months after the purchase I returned to the store to get a replacement Halogen bulb cover for one of the fixtures; the cover had fallen and shattered. On April 22, 2015 we returned to the store, this time with more urgency and concern. Two more of the bulb covers had fallen and shattered. We purchased additional bulb covers and received a different style. On this visit the store manager contacted the manufacturer for guidance. The manufacturer stated the device was designed to point up thereby preventing the halogen covers from falling. Several weeks later another cover fell and shattered. Consequently, I decided to purchase a different fixture, unfortunately the new fixture did not fit. However my contractor and myself were able to determine that there was no instructions requiring the device to be used in an upright position; which the manufacturer stated on the back of the fixture. Further there is no information on any of the documents indicating the device should be mounted with the bulb point up. The bulb covers falling creates a definite hazard where the halogen bulb glass protective cover will fall at any time; likely due to expansion/ contraction. I raised the question with the manufacturer (through Lamps Plus) "has anyone else complained about this issue?" I was told, "we have never had any complaints." It should be noted that Lamps Plus and their store manager have been very cooperative and willing to refund the purchase price. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the manufacturer is selling a unsafe product.Desired Settlement: I would like to see the manufacturer address this matter by making the light safe where the halogen light cover will not fall and shatter. At the least provide instruction that the fixture can only be installed with the fixture point up. We hope that the manufacturer does make appropriate changes in the fixture's documents.

Complaint: I had 4 of their same light fixtures installed & they never worked correctly over 1.5 yrs. Because of this, I lost over $1000 in installation costs. I ordered 2 of their Pro Trackïï��ï��ï���® Bronze 175 Watt Five Light Monorail Pendant Kit, SKU XXXXX, on 9-2-13 from Lamps Plus Online. I had a professional electrician ******* ********* **** install them on 10-4-13 at a cost of $385. Trouble began soon thereafter. 1 or more lights would start going out. I tried changing light bulbs and had the electrician come back out($105) to check them but nothing worked. I contacted Lamps Plus several times about the problems and they would send replacement parts, such as cable strands with sockets and connectors, joint connectors, and then a new set so I could switch out the main connector. During this time the electrician came back out to install the new parts ($125). I called Lamps Plus on 10-24-14 and said these lights never worked properly. I asked if these lights had problems and the customer service agent said she didn't believe so. I did ask a store manager ******* at the Westminster Lamps Plus store if these lights had problems, and she said that some people did have problems with these lights working for them but that they usually worked fine. They sent me 2 more complete units. I had a different professional electrician ****** ********* **** install these on 11-19-14 at a cost of $460. The very next day, 1 of the lights had already gone out. Both electricians remarked about how "touchy" these pendant lights were. They both saw how the lights would just go out. The electrician checked the light switch, the switch box, and the power to the wiring in the ceiling. All were fine. Within a few days, 1 whole set of the lights had gone out. I called Lamps Plus back and said that i was done with these lights because they do not work. Again, by this time I had had 4 sets of these lights installed and they ALL had problems. They said that they would refund the lights if I returned them (which btw, you can't return their lights to a Lamps Plus store if you ordered them online). They also have to be returned in their original boxes. I told them that I had dealt with their malfunctioning lights for about 14 months, and now at this point, I had no kitchen lights and i was still out over $1000. I told them that I would be willing to exchange these lights for another set with them, but that I wanted the installation costs covered by them because I wasn't willing to pay for more installation costs. They said that wasn't possible because in Colorado, the company didn't offer installation services. For my troubles, they offered to give me a 10% discount on some different lights from them. Personally, I thought that was an insult. I chose to buy my new lights elsewhere. I feel it is wrong for a company's customer to be out over $1000 by simply trying to get their product to work. If a company stood behind its product, they would find a way to compensate a customer for their financial loss which was caused because of the company's defective product. I was patient, I tried everything that they recommended, but none of the lights ever worked. My customer order ID was 844BARNXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. The people I dealt with at Lamps Plus Online were ******** *** ********** ******* ******* *********** and ***** ** My refund was processsed on 01-29-15.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compensated for my financial loss. $1000 is alot of money to me. The lights only cost about $600. I used professional electricians because I wanted to make sure that they were installed properly. I do understand that you had no part in the installation services, but I also know that i wouldn't be in debt for over $1000 if I hadn't attempted to use your product. I would think that if Lamps Plus is concerned about excellent customer service, they wouldn't leave a customer stuck with this kind of financial loss because they chose to go with your company and your products. I would like to be compensated for my loss of over $1000. I have the receipts from the electricians to prove what I paid them. Actually, I already submitted these receipts to Lamps Plus. I have spent alot of time and effort on this problem. I'm not asking for any kind of compensation for that....only for my financial loss. I would like a refund of the money I lost trying to get your defective lights to work, but if that isn't possible, then I would like a Lamps Plus store credit of $1000 with no expiration date. We did offer to give her a discount on a new order for different fixtures, which she was starting to do in January, but no order was placed. I would still be happy to work with the customer on that, and will offer a significant discount on the new order to help accommodate installation costs. I have reached out to this customer and will do so again so we can connect.

None of their indoor lamps are UL listed...a fire hazard. They do not disclose this unless asked. It is dangerous, my electrician showed me thin wires and said "that's why it wouldn't pass UL testing..." Major fire hazard.

Complaint: I purchased a set of lamps from Lamps Plus in April 2013. At that time I told the sales clerk I did not want to be put on a mailing list if I gave the information she was requesting. I was assured I would not receive any mailings if I provided my address and phone number. Unfortunately that was not the case and as of October 2014 I am still receiving mailings. I have called the store at least three times in the last 18 months and have spoken to a manager at least once, yet I am still on a mailing list I never wanted to be on and was assured would not be on during my initial purchase. I feel my only recourse is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation) I would like to be removed from the mailing list.
