Working with sales person was an awesome experience. She is quite knowledgeable and supportive. However, my closing was very unorthodox, most of the work items were not ready at the time of closing. They said they will do it later. I had to do continuous follow-up to get those things done. Worst part I am experiencing now is Warranty part. I noticed few things after 10 months which was not wear and tear. I have been told that this is not included in warranty after first month. I am beside myself with Meritage Homes. I am one of the first in the neighborhood were they are still building. I am being charged for a things we don't even have yet. Such as, Pool, pool Maintance, lights and electricity, Landscaping and utilities. The people that move in next year will have all of this and will pay for what I provided. This is so wrong.

Just completed our new build with Meritage and couldn't be more disappointed with the process or the end result. Not only did build time take 3-5 months longer than their original estimate (yes this was already a year into COVID), but there was little to NO communication throughout the entire process. We had to pull teeth for even past tense information in regards to delays, materials, progress - ANYTHING! We weren't even given our closing date until 2 days prior. We finally closed on our home the day before Thanksgiving this year. We started building in January 2020 and were given a 6-8 month build time (yes, with COVID delays included). It took nearly 11 months - and if that weren't enough, the communication was horrendous. We received 2 days notice prior to closing, we had to pry teeth to get any real-time updates on just about anything. I love my home. I do have a very big problem.with being one of the first to buy in a neighborhood that is not established. No common areas and no pool. This is a construction site, not a neighborhood. Still I have having to pay HOA fees to keep up with their budget . This is so wrong.

One day after move-in, 2 of my toilets overflowed as the shower was being used. The overflow caused major water damage on the 1st floor of the house. Hallway Plumbing, admittedly forgot to remove the ball float instrument used to measure the water system. Since there was so much water damage, a water restoration rep had to rip up the carpet, base boards, and hardwood floors.... read more

We initially thought this was mold issue so called a professional company to come clean up the mold, they came out and it turns out the bathroom was constructed to retain water improperly and created not only mold, but leakage issue as well. We contacted builder meritage homes for a claim, but their response was " How dare you find a 3rd party contractor and didn't contact us?!"
