The whole process with this company was the worse ever. I begin this process in March, I select a home and got pre-approval for the house. I call the seller and told him that their preferred lender got me pre-approval. The seller informed that he was told not to sell me the house and I had to wait. This was on a Thursday. On Tuesday, the seller call me and told me that he can sell me the house but the builder went up on the price by 10k. I was piss but I went with it. Bought a new home from Meritage and problems with roof leaks which they would not fix. Please buy from another builder this company is the worse.

Meritage Homes is a company that is an absolute nightmare to work with. We fell for the illusion that our amazing sales experience gave us and put down money for a house in Harper’s Preserve, a bad decision that we have now come to regret. Our place is well past the construction deadline, yet we are unable to move in due to constant construction and electricity delays. It was my first home in creek side farm richmond Tx. I was told by one of their sales staff that I can make small changes in the house when they start building it and later they refused it and also outside bricks of the house shown at the time of sales were not the same which makes big difference. I was also told that if I decide to break the contract the earnest money will be refunded which also refused later by their other sales person. Not worth even 1 star. Not sure how they have got good rating here, all buyers please double check. Writing this review after 2 years of buying a Meritage homes in Raleigh, NC and my experience with them. My sincere advise would be to avoid Meritage homes. There sales team is very proactive and fall behind you, but once the agreement is signed there is no one to care for you. The quality and workmanship of the homes is bad and pathetic, I feel any other builder would do a better job here. There warranty is a painful process... read more

Kitchen sink had the same problem , not draining well , constantly clogging shortly after we moved in. Until recently we had the plumber ran the camera and found a PVC part that were stuck in the drain line , this was clearly left during construction, meritage home refuses to take responsibility , the worst warranty department!

I put earnest money down on a home in Arvada, Colorado in January of 2022, 6 weeks before move in, I was told my contract had been canceled via a text from Meritage. After months of being solicited to use their lending company, I decided to go with an outside one for better perks that met my financial needs as a first time buyer.
