I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Metro credit union. My favorite feature is the Finance Works option that lets you link all accounts (credit cards, student loans, utility bills) to one place so that you can really see where your money is going. Also, they pay you back ANY fee charged at ANY ATM in the WORLD! The only draw back is that if you don't live in Chelsey, you have to deposit your checks in another ATM and wait 4 days for it to clear. Otherwise, I am finally in love. So I had unfortunately a really bad experience with Metro credit union this morning. I've been fighting stage 4 colon cancer for a year with chemotherapy and got a email about the Hardship assistance program offered by Metro credit union. Apon calling I was informed I'm not a government employee so not available for their Hardship assistance. This bank is awful. hold times over 20 minutes, and constant disconnections. Anytime you need help with anything there's a charge. Online chat support is bad if you have to go that route. my card was just compromised and its $35 for them to overnight a new one else you're waiting 5 days. The bank has gone downhill, they refuse to hire member services agents, and when they do they don't train them. I got in touch with one person today who had to transfer me to another person to another and got disconnected. Needed bank statem... read more

This is the only bank I've had in the last 20 years that actually reported me to the credit union for being two days late on a $5.90 payment for my overdraft. Then, a year later, they reported me again to the credit union for being one day late on my credit card. When I decided to refinance my house, the entire process was a disaster, and I barely received an apology.

Second update July 2025: Have received multiple property tax bills (not the usual one) and a notice from our homeowner's insurance that it hasn't been paid. So Metro is not paying taxes or homeowner's insurance. Yet they applied $2,000 to the mortgage for no reason recently. I emailed loan servicing more than a week ago, no response. As I said, run--Metro has quotas for mortgages but they sell them, don't service them, and don't respond. NCUA complaint is next, I think.

Terrible Customer Service - Extremely Disappointed I've called Metro Credit Union five times just to get a copy of my lease agreement so I can register my car in Florida. I was promised it would be emailed within 24 hours -- never received anything. Every call is 40+ minutes on hold, transferred over and over, and no one solves anything. I'm now stuck without a document I have the right to have, and I'm at risk of not being compliant with the law in my new state. This is unacceptable. Update: And we just got notice that Freddie Mac bought our mortgage. So Metro lied to us. Screw you, Metro, and screw you Freddie Mac. Now I have to find another credit union that will NOT sell my loan as a mortgage backed security. No way should mortgage loans be publicly traded investments. And there is nothing risky about our loan, in case you think that's the reason it got sold.

Wife got a car loan from Metro - they messed up a payment by applying it to the wrong account and even admitted it. Said it would not be reported on her credit and if it was to call them back and they would fix it. It was reported - we did call - they never did anything about it. They just don't care. We will never work with Metro again for anything .. ever.. we really should report them to the AG and BBB as well. Do not use Metro... even if you have to pay a slightly higher rate. Thomas at your company was rude and hung up on me after the 10 questions to get my account number. After giving him my information, he wanted to know my payment, so I called my Son to get that, and it still was not good enough. All I'm trying to do is go paperless. Never get a loan from METRO CREDIT UNION!!!
