Good printer ruined by the scanner This is a nice, easy to use printer and scanner. It was easy to set up and I like the wireless functionality and auto-feeder. There is a major downside for me and anyone else who scans a lot of documents or photos using the flatbed. The scanner cuts off about 3mm of the document on every side of the glass. The good, the bad, and the ugly. This multi-function printer was wonderful for 18 months. Then through no fault of mine, the power supply suddenly failed. Brother support was excellent diagnosing the problem but left me with a dead printer 6 months over the one year warranty. Sending it in for repairs would prove costly enough but adding the repair expenses would likely be cost prohibitive. Very disappointing to say the least!
Screwed right now There is nothing a hate more on a printer then when it arbitrarily decides you need a new toner. I have had many printers before, and I always refuse to buy a companies printer when it refuses to print due to toner issues My printer refuses to print right now due to toner, The print quality was perfect, I am ok with poor quality, I just need my papers printed.. My old Brother printer hadn't even broken down yet I had another Brother MFC-8460N printer that worked for years (10?). It was even working with Windows 10 until, ironically, I updated the firmware. Must have changed a setting somehow. Anyway, not worth the trouble of figuring it out, time for a new printer. This review is for the MFCL2740DW. Cons: 1. Good printer overall / Terrible WIFI This is a good printer overall but it happens to have a pretty poor WIFI. I don't print stuff often, maybe once or twice a month. But EACH time, the printer will appear as offline on my laptop. When I got to see what's happening with the printer itself, it shows nothing wrong, full WIFI connection. So I reboot, and then only it pints my stuff. Now I'm looking for a way ti plug it through Ethernet but it kind of defeat the purpose since I bought it to put it in a room without any wired net... read more
One Star This printer eats up cartridges crazily. It already consumed two cartridges with light use in 4 weeks.
Every document scans crooked As a printer it works well but the Document Feeder has a serious problem. Every document (duplex or not) scans crooked. The scanned document comes out 3-5° out of square. Read the other comments, everyone seems to have the same problem
