We use them with Mac computers and I cannot keep this model if I can't easily scan docs without rebooting the machine I have several Brother MFC printers that work very well, but the L2740 does NOT wake from deep sleep to scan, just as other reviewers have posted. It can't be that hard to have designed this without this flaw or to update the firmware to correct it.
This is a terrible printer and scanner - the toner goes quick and ... This is a terrible printer and scanner - the toner goes quick and the scanner grabs multiple pages and jams up regularly. It messes with you because it works well for a while then let's you down when you really need it. I have never seen a printer go through so much toner. I did find a reasonably priced alternative made by Arthur - but I am still buying about one $25 toner cartridge per month, which seems really excessive.
Waste of Time and Money Junk- Don't buy!!!!! I have Apple products so I'm unsure if that is part of the problem but each day I hate this $200 paperweight more and more; before I would have to restart and reconnect to wifi each time I need to print after it goes into sleep mode. I fixed that by setting up a MFC direct for printing. Either way, I shouldnt have to worry about it falling off wifi every 60 seconds. Now I can't scan anything... Hello, I bought this printer in Feb 2016, ... Hello, I bought this printer in Feb 2016, I believe I only printed about 150 pages, starting at 50 pages, it told me the toner is low, now, only 150 pages, it ask me to change the toner!! I had a brother similar printer MFC 7430 in the past, the same problem, still has the toner, but the printer told me I need to change the toner. I believe this is the same problem? I believe the toner is not low! Are you able to exchange a printer for me?? Thanks a lot!!

I have this Brother MFCL2740DW printer for 11 month now ... I had this Brother MFCL2740DW printer for 11 month now, and one day It had a 'Low memory error" and I couldn't use print or fax, I call Brother Tech. Support, They did their research, and said they will need to replace this machine with a refurbish one or bring it to the shop for repair. My opinion: Its either a defective machine or it cant handle moderate job.
OK printer, near useless scanning software or controls It is OK as a printer. Have not used it for FAX. Not too happy about the scanner features. I had an 10 year old HP scanjet flatbed scanner with the software that came with it and it blows this away as far as functionality. Really wanted to like it, won't buy another brother product I really got tired of the inkjet treadmill and was lured in by the scan to google docs feature. It was nice for about 2 weeks. I really wanted to like this printer, it is slow, the features work today and not tomorrow, and the support site is like so many others... just drivers and useless drivel on the order of "is it plugged in".
