    Poor automatic document feeder/Jams often Bought this because it has a auto duplex printing function and can scan double sided documents. Very dissappointed at the automatic document feeder, it frequently would pick up multiple pages and scan it as 1 page, jams often. If you are scanning a 20 page document do you really want to have to wonder ever time if all the pages were scanned and/or look through it to see which one was missed. Otherwise the other functions works fine.

    A COMPLETE RIP OFF- TONER LIFE HORRIBLE I feel like 640 of the 647 reviews must be from Brother employees or paid reviews. I seriously cannot stress enough how terrible this printer is with regards to the "toner end" function. We have had the printer in our small office for two weeks now, and print about 20 pages a day (note the literature states 1200 pages out of a standard cartridge).     Stating that there is no upgrade available for this model MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS A HORRIBLE MODEL. you might as well get a BASIC . We have this printer at my office and there is a major issue with the feeder wheather you scan or print it constantly jams up. I have gone through so many of brothers' troubleshooting steps that I can say there is no solution. The feeder jams, tears and crumbles up the documents that tries to go through the feeder.     Detailed page per toner info below & how you can too This has been great. I have printed 1009 pages in the past 9-10 months. On windows, if you go into the devices and printers, right click on the printer > printing preferences > support > print settings; on the second page you will find a lot of helpful info. So basically, of my 1009 pages, my average coverage is 4.49% so I should be getting better-than-rated pages per toner (they rate the toner cartridge at a certain number of pages @ 5% coverage).     That is the worse printer I ever bought Please don't buy this. That is the worse printer I ever bought. When I print something it would take 1 or 2 hours to actually print from the printer. I have to keep turn it off and on all the time. Please don't waste time and money.

    Mechanically sound but software poorly written Its been 4 months since I purchased this machine. it's mechanically sound but software poorly written. I've have no problems with the construction of the machine BUT I have to uninstall / reinstall the software twice a month due to its inability to detect the machine via USB cable. Windows 10 sees it but not Brother's software. Maybe Brother will patch their software .

    Poor Documentation, Unhelpful Error Messages I bought this printer so I could finally print from all my devices wirelessly, scan, and fax. It does all of those things well. What it doesn't do is interface in a sane, consistent manner with my windows 10 laptops. I re-installed the software twice on two laptops, making sure to install everything on both laptops the second time.     Set up issues but printer great so far Because I have Windows 10 I needed to go online and download the correct drivers, etc. I tried to set up with wireless system first. Seemed to be successful, yet when I then moved on to setting up a connection with the smart phone I made an error. I can not figure out to correct it and now the printer will print but not scan.
