Do a cold start (i.e. unplug the printer) and the machine prints fine, but after a short while neither my iMac or Macbook Pro could find the printer. If you have a Mac you will have problems This printer has a 'known' problem with not responding to request to print or scan after falling into a "deep sleep" mode. After spending a lot of time on the phone with tech support I did my own troubleshooting and found out it didn't respond to multicastDNS after if went to sleep. It would need to be rebooted in order to work. This appears to be a problem with OS X (Macs). An engineer responded to my finding and said a patch should be issued mid August. WLAN is faulty, printer is faulty in many ways. Printer's eco function allows it to go to sleep only within the margin of 1-90 minutes, when it goes to sleep it disconnects from the WLAN causing it to grab a new IP address. Even when setting the WLAN IP address to static it automatically turns the WLAN feature off, when enabling the WLAN again it grabs a new IP address causing any printers mapped to it by IP address to not print to it unless manually remapping printer. Then it works fine. Same with printing a page via WIFI Random failures of Scanning multiple pages. Reports Failure. Must switch off and re-boot unit. Then close and re-start wifi icon on my Apple Macbook, to start Scanning remotely via WIFI. Then it works fine. Same with printing a page via WIFI. Sometimes must restart. i have had toner replacement issues on original and replacement machines. same problem. using only brother products There seems to be a glitch in this machine. I am on my second machine, same mode. LCD touch screen lights on by itself! The touch screen or LCD lights up intermittently (without any input from me) which is extremely annoying and has happened on two separate units that I've purchased from different suppliers. If anyone has a solution to this PLEASE let me know - I would bump it up to five stars (providing no loss in functionality). I suspect it's the wireless connection because I don't believe I've seen it light up by itself when I turned the wifi off (but of course that is compromising functionality).
Problems for IOS and Yosemite You will have problems getting this printer to work if you're running OSX Yosemite. The install steps are extremely straightforward and auto-locate works the first time around, but within 5 minutes of setting up the printer and installing the software something happens and the OS thinks the printer is offline. The only way to get it back online is to cold-boot the printer.
