At 8pm last night, after work, I took Bella, into NIV Emergency Hospital because of breathing problems (from preexisting condition), thinking it might be Aspiration pneumonia. I got checked in and put into a room, Bella taken to another room, scared and with separation anxiety. 4 hours later, no updates, the vet came in and says “what is going on with Bella, what seems to be the matter?” He talked to me for about 10 minutes and said I recommend x-rays of her chest at 150.00 and then I recommend an x-ray of the stomach, anoth... read more

Business response:

Ms. Godsey, we always strive to provide quality, compassionate care for our patients and clients. We are sorry you felt Bella’s first visit was not up to our standards. We appreciate your feedback and will review your concerns with the team members involved.

They are very poor in their communication. They do not give updates at all. I have been here 4 hours and no word at all. 3 dogs that checked in after us have been seen and have gone home They haven't even seen my dog yet. My vet made the appt and they knew we were coming. 😠😠 very poor service

Business response:

Melony, thank you for reaching out. As an emergency hospital we cannot always predict wait times and pets presenting in critical condition will inevitably cause delays. We apologize that we did not keep you updated more effectively. We continue to work with our staff to improve communication while our COVID protocols are still in place. We hope you have a better experience at NIVES for any future visits.

This place is a freaking joke, they claim they don’t know why my fur baby was having seizures and they couldn’t get them under control so they suggested I put him down because he was in so much pain and was weak. Just got told they don’t do autopsy that I have to get ahold of Purdue for them to do the autopsy. My baby is getting cremated tomorrow and I’m going to be without answers. NEVER TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES HERE! Absolutely the worst, they claim they care about animals but honestly I don’t think they do the just wanna char... read more

Business response:

Thank you for the feedback Hailey. Your concerns are extremely important to us. Our Medical Director is reviewing Bandit’s case and will be reaching out to you soon. **Update 3.4.2021: Thank you for meeting with me today Hailey. I'm very sorry for your loss but hope you find some comfort after our discussion. Given the information you shared about Bandit's issues when he was born, I'm concerned there were larger underlying health concerns that caused the seizures and prevented him from responding to any of the medications... read more

What kind of Veterinary ER would send a pet home covered in urine?? You wouldn't put a baby back in a wet diaper would you?? NO. I am extremely livid. My Fiance and I had to bring our fur baby here because by the time I got home from work the two clinics we would normally take him to were closed. He has been having urinary problems and he was not acting normal. He was shaking badly and having trouble sitting down as well as having trouble using his box. What little he did do had blood in it. We got him there at 6:40pm. On t... read more

I will say my dog was taken care of but the staff really needs to work on their customer service skills. They give inaccurate wait times. Two hours turned into seven then into an overnight stay. Multiple phone calls as I waited from my car for five of them just for a quick update. The front office staff is unorganized and constantly finding an excuse to not help you. As a anxious customer, don’t tell me how busy you are. My animal is just as important as the next. Your excuses ran out and my nerves are shot! Get your... read more

Business response:

We are sorry for the extended wait times, unfortunately we dealing with extraordinary circumstances at this time and trying to manage our patient needs as best we can. With the current pandemic, curbside service is necessary to protect the health & safety of our care teams, and it does take longer to facilitate patient visits. We are treating more patients than ever as many primary care clinics in the tri-state area are still on limited hours or are booked out several weeks too. Our Emergency service treats pets on a "fir... read more

I was at NIVES for 7 hours. They don’t know anything more now than they did when I got there. $1k later to boot. I had to call in multiple times to check the status instead of them giving me 30 min or even 1 hour updates. I was promised a 45 min update at one point. Never received that update. Waited 1.5 hours and decided to call. I was put on hold for more than 15 min so I hung up, waited a few min and called back. For the price you pay to go here you would think the care would be exceptional. It was NOT.

Business response:

We're very sorry for the extended wait times. With the current pandemic, curbside service is necessary to protect the health & safety of our care teams. However, it does take longer to facilitate patient visits and can result in communication delays. We sincerely hope Caly is feeling better. Please call our office to discuss your concerns with our Medical Director or Hospital Administrator in more detail.

I run Parke County Animal Welfare Services Inc-PAWS (formerly OTIS). We are a small 501c3 rescue. Back in August, one of our adopters (fostering to adopt, so adoption not finalized and kitten still under our ownership) was at her vacation home in Michigan. She took her two kittens with her and one of them started experiencing symptoms of an intestinal blockage. We had the adopter take him to this vet clinic ASAP since they were the only ones she could get into over the weekend. The night the kitten was evaluated, our suspici... read more

What is extremely sad is the poor animals that live in a family who totally cares for their pet in every way....but don’t have 170.00 just to walk in the door and get help. The animal suffers and so does the owner wishing they could afford help. It’s heartbreaking. Do they really care ??

this is a terrible place ! my cousin took his dog because it started having trouble breathing. come to find out the vet tells them the doggie has heartworms but wont treat her if they dont pay up. according to them while fur baby was under their care supposedly she had a seizure and they clearly told my cousin they gave the doggie valium... the dog was in a coma for more than 24 hours before she passed away. when my cousin goes to try and get the records they refuse to give him records and then say they never gave valium and... read more
