Pros and cons! I worked for Orkin for 11 years. Orkin itself as a pest control company is an excellent pest company. They will get rid of your pest problems! With that being said their integrity level for work personal is very low. I hurt my back 2xs on the job at Orkin, as I was working my 17hr days. The 3rd time I hurt it I was in the way out the door to go to work. I slipped and hurt it again in the same place I previously hurt it. Only this time my injury was severe! extremely disappointed...the service person was lovely...the company policy...not so. I was charged $325 for a half hour visit, and the setting of 3 wood traps. I will never use them again. and I called to cancel 2 days ago and no one posted the cancellation. then I called today - the second time - and no one answered or called back when I left a message. so, Orkin, no no no
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I just bought my first home and really needed someone to not only check over my entire home, but spray, trap, Caulk, and plug up any places where mice and bugs could get it. The women in the initial call said they can send someone to do that, plus do a wood density test and a moisture test. All these services cost me 392$. I had contracted with this service for three years until I cancelled recently. In a routine check of charges on the credit card I used to pay for bimonthly pest control service, I noticed a charge that was $25. more than I had agreed to pay. When I called them to ask the reason, they explained that their prices increase in April each year. I told them that I had neither been informed of an increase nor had I authorized it. Please read the other reviews and do not use their service. I did not check the yelp reviews and made an appointment with them. They did not show up to the appointment so I called their customer service and they said they were on their way. I had to stay home and wait for another 2 hours but they never showed up. No phone calls, no emails. So disappointed.
Called Orkin because of a termite infestation. Because of the pitch of our roof, the only option was fumigation and not heat. We were given bags to protect food and medication, but I removed virtually everything from the house---clothes, linens, flatware, etc--- because I hated the idea of having toxins everywhere. Orkin advised us to move all indoor plants outside---which we did. They told us to cut tree branches off the house to accommodate the tarp. We did that too. My tenant, who has been renting a living space from me for several months, notified me that she heard the sound of a creature in one of the walls and it was keeping her from getting sleep. The property is across an alley from a local restaurant and we have occasionally had mice get into our crawl space. Whenever this has happened in the past, I would go there and set a trap to eliminate the problem. I went with Orkin based on my neighbor's recommendation. My initial phone call to set up the service on 09/29 went well and my first service was set for 10/08. I received a call from the technician that afternoon after my appointment window had passed and he claimed he hadn't seen my appointment until then, plus he was out of supplies so he had to reschedule for Monday. If it were possible to rate lower than 1 star I absolutely would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR ANY OF THEIR OTHER LOCATIONS!!! They have configured their service into a money-making scam at the expense of the homeowners. I established a maintenance account for repeat service every 3 months with the understanding that each appt. would be scheduled in advance with the company so that I can be home to let the service person in to spray.
