This place was highly recommended and now I know why!! All I can say is one word FANTASTIC!!!!!
It is a little too noisy for us . The servers kept throwing empty beer bottles to the trash behind the bar , which created an annoying sound .
Our waiter was Thadeus, he was very friendly energetic and his recommendations were wonderful. The food was great and the place was charming..
Eight of us went here for dinner after reading reviews on Italian restaurants. I agree with the excellent reviews on this restaurant! We had 3 children in our group, ages 7, 3, and 1 1/2. We made a reservation ahead of time then I had to call to let the hostess know we were running late. They pleasantly accommodated and had a high chair set up for us for the youngest one. They have a kids menu and the children enjoyed speg & meatballs & ravioli. They loved it and ate almost all of the meals. The adults had appetizers and for... read more
Excellent entree pasta and pizza. Fresh ingredients. We had leisurely dinner and never felt rushed. Quieter than most restaurants in Gaslamp district. Would recommend for all travellers looking for relaxed, top quality Italian. Brought special birthday Tiramisu to table after overhearing our toasts. Classy!
A colleague and I were visiting from out of town, and found the restaurant based on other reviews. We were not disappointed. The pasta was great, cooked perfectly, and the sauces were fresh, and not "warmed" like many places can be. Even though the restaurant was very busy, our server was attentive, without being overbearing. The location is also very convenient to many hotels, and is within walking distance.
Right on 5th in the Gaslamp district! This is our go to dinner location anytime we are in San Diego. Usually for a Dodger/Padre game. My wife always has the spinach Pesto raviolis and loves it! I always try something different. This time it was the crab leg and veal shank special. The special was $55 but well worth it. About a pound of crab (all legs cut in half for easy access) and 3 large veal shanks. All with grilled asparagus. Could of easily shared the meals. Bruschetta as an appetizer was excellent. Fun to sit on the p... read more
Great atmosphere with excellent food and service. Even though it is in the Gaslamp district with all of the tourist restaurants, this restaurant makes you feel like you could be anywhere including in Sicily.
I was visiting San Diego for the weekend, and was craving some Italian. After a little research online I decided on Osteria Panevino and was more than pleasantly surprised. The food was FANTASTIC, waitstaff was amazing, and the number on the bill was far less than I expected given such quality in such a hot location. Would definitely go back, and absolutely recommend!
