Was frustrated with the handling of the appraisal aspect of the application process. Not sure how much of that was attributable to the hectic market or if it was in part because of PennyMac's minimal experience in the state I was purchasing in.

Patrick did a great job with staying in contact weekly however the conversation was the same every week, all documentation is in pending final review. Week after week the same conversation, week after week the same question, rates are going down do I have any options to lower my rate. I think it took 30+ days to get this answered. I knew nothing about funds needed to be wired until the closing agent told me the morning of closing and I was never given wiring instructions. This caused stress .
Overall, the loan process is great from application to closing, PennyMac will guide you through. The initial application was very fast and timely, however I feel that the loan review took very long time, I have not received any update for almost a month after submitting all the required documents, not until I followed up, that's the only time my loan gets traction again and took almost another month to close. There were also confusions with the title company and the closing cost calculations.
The staff and mobile closer were attentive and available to answer questions and assist us throughout the process. The whole process was smooth and very fast.
Brittany was simply outstanding. She was so courteous and really nice! She's a credit to PennyMac.
I was very pleased how Penny Mac completed my loan refi. At first, I was skeptical because Penny Mac is way large and so I thought I would be treated like a number. Nope. I was so wrong. Penny Mac is competitive with ANYONE providing refi’s and mortgages. And their response to my queries were fast and spot on.
Tim was very nice and very responsive.
