The documents were sent to me wrong. After they were corrected supposedly, they should have been sent to me for approval, as requested. They were not and the notary came out for closing. I could not sign the documents so they had to be redone and a notary had to come out a second time. Also when we called PennyMac to try to get ahold of our representative it took all day to get someone to return the call.

Very time consuming process. Frustrating when some emails were sent from other employees who were not my loan advisor, which resulted in confusion because my advisor told me one thing and the emails said another. Questions that I sent via email were responded to with a phone call rather than an email reply, which was difficult to juggle during the work day with a young child at home. I am glad this process is completed and that I had a kind, caring advisor.

The refinance was easy & a few steps on my part needed to be done. Everyone on the PennyMac team was very nice & helpful. Explained the procedures with the questions that I had. the closing was easy & fast. I would recommend them to others.

Of note - our first loan agent, Arthur, was fantastic. Patient, intelligent, helpful, and timely. A+ rating for him. The rest was awful. Because of delays by PennyMac, duplicate/addn'l docs were needed. The upload site doesn't let you see what has been uploaded. One person can't upload for both buyers (ie wife can't upload statements for herself and her husband). Hermes never knew what was going on. A call to the east coast at 9p is unprofessional. Notary was incredibly late.

Aside from the subpar tech platform for the entire process it was done quickly and communicated very well. Both my loan rep and servicer did an excellent job. I only mention the online tools as it seems like PennyMac is using something that was developed a long time ago. Only advice I would give is to spend some $$ on updating your user interface.

Lack of communication, shifting cash to close numbers, and 2 closings rescheduled within 2 weeks is not the right way to do business. We finally closed but we still have no clue why our closing was rescheduled 2 times previously.
