The process was overall pleasant and easy.
Achieved primary goal of reducing rate and cutting life if loan in half. Only challenge was difficulty in uploading documents to portal at times.
I was having a horrible experience with a local lender and did not even think about attempting to refinance with Penny Mac. On a whim I reached out to Penny Mac and I cannot say enough great things about both Mr. Nicholas Hagan and Mr. Gevork Dzhabroyan. I am in the military and have been extremely busy. Penny Mac simplified my refinance paperwork and I was able to close under 3 weeks. Totally amazed and it is due to the efforts of Mr. Dzhabroyan and Mr. Hagen. Sincerely thank you!
Terrible experience. Processing team failed to send all paperwork to the notary. Both the notary and I were left high in the dry not knowing what was going on and only after calling and talking to 4 different agents and a manager did we figure out that the documents had not been sent. I took time off work to be available for this time. Extremely unprofessional and honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had with a lender. Eventually rescheduled for a week later.
My loan officer Joseph was never reachable. By the time he would get back to me I would no longer need anything.
The loan team was spectacular, and no problems arose during the loan process.
Anytime I emailed the mymac address, I never received a response. My LE and CD were sent incorrectly and I had to follow up multiple times to get them corrected. I had to call multiple times to attempt to schedule a closing. I do not feel like the communication was adequate during the process.
I liked that in the beginning I was contacted weekly, giving me updates on the loan status, but those calls stopped. It took 3 months to close, and for 1.5 of those, I had no idea if my loan was still being processed. We set a closing date, and no one showed up, I had to call to find out what was going on, we set another appointment a week later, which made it so I had to make another mortgage payment to my previous lender.
The closing department tried to make me use a closing attorney that i did not choose. I had provided my attorney's information initially on the application paperwork. This caused the closing to be delayed 3 weeks, 2 of which the closing department still tried to insist their attorney be used.
