Working with Afton Lambert was awful. Trying to have a member of management return my call including her manager Tim Easterly was like pulling teeth. I finally reached out to the CEO of PennyMAC and Andrew Reta called me and helped to get our process going. I understand that these are trying times and working from home can be a challenge, but I felt like a step child through the process when we are already current customers of PennyMAC. I pray no one else has to go through what we went through.
The communication process was very limited after our interview with Andrew Simmons. We were the ones who generally reached out. An example was our appraisal. We had to call PennyMac to remind them to get us an appraisal ordered. Speaking of the appraisal, we were not satisfied with the appraiser's results. Out of 6 properties he used as comps, he put 0 weight on the 2 that were the most like our home in size and style, putting more weight in smaller homes with fewer bedrooms and/or bathrooms.
Friendly staff, helpful information, quick and easy!
The biggest thing I disliked was that no one gave me ANY information about when and how to expect the payout I got from my loan. That seems like a pretty important point to not just let people stress out about. All the other inefficiencies are easily explained by the difficulties associated with our current Covid-19 situation and therefor not a big deal.
Very easy process for refinancing and getting my monthly payment lowered.
I was pleased with the overall process. I never spoke with Jason Staples directly but everyone else was very helpful.
The online Closing Disclosure document was never updated to remove the Escrow Account. I was told that it would be corrected in the final version and it was, but I would have appreciated an accurate version before the closing, especially since the notary had no time to allow a review of the closing paperwork. Also, I was sent a bill from the old, original PennyMac for $1904.81. When I called customer service, I was told to ignore it, but that they could not verify that instruction in writing.
