We started the process in the beginning of sept with Matt gillipspie. He said everything should be completed by october.....I had 3 other people contact me in the loan process so I lost track of who to reply to or who to reference with my questions. We closed on Dec 10th. It just seemed to be a real cluster of missed phone calls and emails that I never received. We just wished we could have done the whole loan process with one person who was good with communication.
The continuous communication from Justen and the PennyMac closing team was reassuring that the closing date stayed on target! Very knowledgeable and professional team that I would highly recommend for any mortgage/loan needs!
Very friendly, quick turnaround, fair rates
I have a rental property with a first and second mortgage. I have no idea why, but SunTrust put the condo address on one of the mortgages and the condo complex address on the other one. I literally had to explain this a dozen times to multiple different people. I was told three separate times that I was ready to close only to be told that was a mistake because the above referenced issue hadn't been clarified. I understand it's confusing, but once explained once, that should've been it.
I realize that many, many people are refinancing now, but I chose to go with PennyMac because my current mortgage was with them and I figured the process would be more efficient. I have refinanced probably 6 times over the years, and this refinancing took longer than any other I've done. Because it took so long, I had to resubmit banking documents and pay stubs because they were "dated" by the time they got to them. All in all, I was able to refinance, and it's done.
BAD! The delay in closing was infuriating - 8 weeks after expected and misleading communication as to why. We uploaded doc request promptly, but they kept expiring and we were continually updating documents. Communication was terrible, my emails were largely ignored, and there are two different portals that were difficult to use - not intuitive. We were notified of a change to the final closing figures only hours before the mobile notary showed up. Wish we went somewhere else!
PennyMac was able to help me refinance my loan and match two different rates from competitors and close within a couple of months. Great experience just they need to work on better communication with details on where they were with the process.
Given the situation with Covid it was great to be able to do it all electronically (at least up to the closing document signing which only required us to interact directly with one person)
