We were surprised and frustrated with how long the process took. We did appreciate the weekly status update phone calls. Also the final closing statement at the time of signing was not the same as that was sent to us prior to closing. It was our understanding that we were not going to need to pay anything out of pocket at closing but we ended up having to write a check. It ended up working out but there were definite moments of frustration and areas that needed better communication.
An incorrect figure on a document led to the wrong cash to close amount being disbursed to me at closing. Took close to two months and several phone calls to get this fixed. My closing agent was not keen on helping. I was given the run around when trying to get this resolved. I will not use PennyMac again.
The process was quick and efficient.

In the most unprecedented times in our nation as a healthcare worker on the frontline Penny Mac and Gina went above and beyond to ensure a seamless and smooth refinance. I have already referred many of my staff to Penny Mac for their new home and refinance needs! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
I actually applied for a refinance twice with Pennymac. The first time was a couple of years ago when the rates first sounded low. The Pennymac agent, Sarkis, reviewed my application and actually talked me OUT of doing the refinance . . . for a variety of reasons that I had either not considered or was unaware of, such as escrow requirements, property taxes and insurance. Thus, when the situation changed with the new lower rates and post-Covid financial situation, I went right back to Pennymac.
Best and easiest refinance process ever!! Thanks to the Penny MAC Team. 5 stars, a rating of 10 out of 10. I highly recommend to anyone looking to finance or refinance their home.
The process was easy and no surprises came up before closing
Robel Moreno and Carolyn Monson were so helpful in answering all of my questions. I'm sure they had many customers but they always made me feel like a priority. They worked around my work schedule, sent reminders, and effectively communicated what was needed from me. Thanks to them, the process was smooth and almost effortless. Thank you for helping me get a new home!
