Is it worth it? Have been using for 1 season. I have a salt water pool with pebble tech surface. It navigates surprisingly well. It did get stuck on one occasion by getting wedged between a step and the pool lip edge in the corner of the pool. Otherwise this thing can get out of almost any situation even if it flips over. Fun to watch! I have a 16,000 gallon rectangle pool. I does not get the smaller steps or the sun shelf. Update: Still does a fantastic job! Update: Over one year of use now and still working great with no problems. The remote gets a lot of use, mainly to position the vacuum for lift when its job is done. The photo shows the leaf canister post vacuuming after a recent thunderstorm. The best $1500 I ever spent The best $1500 I ever spent. Cleans the floor and sides of my in-ground pool perfectly. I started it after opening the pool from the winter and there were big leaves and small twigs. I had to empty the filter 9 times. When "polly" (as we affectionately call her) needs to be emptied, she gets too fat to crawl the sides when you push the lift button, so I have to meet her half way up and pull her out. Impressive works well in our curved in ground pool, the cord is quite long.the pool bottom and sides much cleaner than with the old pool vac cleaner. plus the skimmers seem to work better as the suction is not needed for cleaning the bottom.I run the Polaris around 2 or 3 times a week, and the pool is much cleaner. it runs for 1:50 minutes each time , and is always clean once it is done. I have only 2 things I am less enthusiastic about. First it does not signal when it has completed a cycle. I only know if I go to the control board and wake it from sleep to see how much time is left, or if I see it sitting still for some time. Polaris In-Ground Pool Cleaner The cleaner does a great job, even gets the finest sand off the bottom. I can run two cycles every other day and the pool stays clean. I like the fact that the debris is not going to the main filter unit. It is very easy to clean. I absolutely love the Lift system. The unit comes to the surface and I can retrieve the unit from the pool by myself. It is a tad heavy for an older person. Control unit is easy to operate.. Well worth the money.
My pool is finally clean after a year and a half My adventure started in July 2015 when we bought our house. The pool uses a D.E. filter. I previously had a cartridge filter at my prior home. I spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out how to keep the pool clean due to several large trees over the pool. I replaced the pump with a variable speed pump and the pool was still dirty. I think of this like a Roomba for pools, not a full size vacuum but sure beats a daily broom and dustpan. I use this in a 70,000 Bean shaped pool. It does a complete job in 2x 3hr sessions for me, but is great for spot cleaning for an hour or two over a few days if lowered in different sections to start each session.It goes on the edge of the pool tile as well, slightly scrubbing the waterline but nothing like a brush and baking soda so don't expect that.My only complaints are it can't do my pool in 1 session, and that it ha... read more
Great cleaner! I'm really happy with this purchase. We had a Legend II pressure side pool cleaner that worked well for a couple weeks each season, but the valves had to be set just right, and it became less effective as debris collected in the filter and the filter pressure changed. Keeping it working was always a hassle. Our pool service recommended we install a booster pump with a new cleaner; an $1,800 proposition.
