We have been to the Redeye Grill many times. This is the first time our service and food were not great. Good but not great. There was a large group right near us and it seems that they received most of the service. We both had Ribeye steaks, which are normally the tenderest of cuts but this time they were both very difficult to cut and a little more chewy that most times. That being said, we would probably come again but if we were to receive the type of service and food we had the last time it would probably be our last ti... read more
We had a reservation and arrived early. We were seated at a table right next to an aisle wear patrons and wait staff were walking past us every few seconds. It was very distracting and awkward. There were plenty of other tables so I don't understand why we were seated at this one, especially when we made a reservation DAYS before. The food was great but I felt like I was eating in a circus with all the activity around us. For the prices, this was completely unacceptable. We were happy when our meal was over and we could go h... read more
will never go back-the drinks were a very short pour-martini 1/2 full glass-scallops chewy -salmon tasteless--we usually eat there once a month, but they have seen the last of us--when I complained to the headwaiters--service desk they were very sorry and bought us dessert and coffee, but that did not make up for the bad (expensive) food and terrible service)--even the bread has gone downhill--They also raised their prices, but this would have been OK if the food was even 1/2 way good
We have always liked the Redeye Grill and it was my "to go to" restaurant when attending Carnegie Hall. We hadn't been there in some time and I must say we were shocked by how much the price structure had changed. There are virtually no entrees left in the $20 - $30 price range. But to add insult to injury, every thing is a la carte. My salmon was served with nothing more than a cherry tomato for $38.00. Are you kidding me? A side veggie was an additional $15 to share! We are "done" with Redeye. I feel totally taken advantag... read more
Although the setting is spacious and lovely (once you get by the noisy bar and too-narrow entrance station), I was expecting something special given the prices and pretentiousness of the staff. The appetizer was interesting, but the main course (I had scallops) was bland, the cauliflower advertized turned out to be a few slivers more for decoration than substance and I could taste no trace of the black truffle. My companion had a steak, just a large piece of meat on a plate, well-prepared, but nothing special. An appetizer, ... read more
It's finally happened....your prices are too high. It's a shame because this is a favorite restaurant of ours before attending Michael Feinstein across the street. We'll come back, but not as often. Restaurants in NYC are finally becoming too expensive for concert and theatergoers. It's not just you. It's sad.
We have eaten at red Eye grill many times in the past and always have been satisfied. The menu has changed somewhat and the prices have increased. The food was just OK we will not return.
Last year at x-mas we had a terrific meal around the same time, so I can't blame the holiday rush for this disastrous meal. After notifying the restaurant of train delays, we arrived 10 min after our 6pm reservation. That left us an hour and 50 min to meet the Carnegie Hall 8 pm curtain. Red Eye is across the 57th from Carnegie. It took 20 minutes before the waitress to come over, another 10 to get water and drinks and over an hour for the entrees to arrive via a kitchen runner. My husband's fish was hot, but my crab cake wa... read more
The Lobster roll consisted of 4 small pieces (not even 1 leg's worth) of meat on a burnt roll; plus the meat was tough. We specifically asked if the lobster was in butter or a mayo base and were told mayo - it was in butter instead. Another guest ordered a steak, which was cooked correctly, but I have never seen a steak served with absolutely no garnish - just a steak on a plate. For $35 I would expect a small salad or a couple vegetables on the plate. The chopped salad was as expected, but the nicoise was very small in comp... read more
