They had trauma yoga classes here through Phoenix and they were so relaxing. It felt like all my worries went away. I was so focused on the instructor who did a guided mindfulness exercise that was so. She had a lavender scented pillow that was so peaceful. I'm going to find their classes for when I go home because it was very healing.
My therapist Karah is amazing. She was always there. I got some bad news from home and was ready to walk out and leave, but Karah was able to help me and calm me down. Amy really gets you engaged in her classes. TA's Tanya and Stacey are so helpful. I ordered some pants online and I found out they had a big hole in them and Tanya helped sew them for me! Therapist Demetrius and Cami as well as the health and wellness nurse Christina were all very informative and motivational. I felt comfortable to open up in group and challenge myself to get things out and talk to other people about how I was feeling. It was very peaceful. I did Bingo and Town Hall. They also have yoga in the gym. I learned about myself as a person and it really increased my self esteem. Even though I felt down and out, I got a lot in return.
Nurse Leah really helped me because she was always fast with my medication and she's really nice. Therapist Ray was helpful because he taught me coping skills like 5,4,3,2,1 and he was very supportive. I liked the groups, we played games that were interactive. I loved the movie night every weekend and I also played bingo. I learned that I can have a clear mind. I would recommend River Oaks to anyone that needs help.
The other night Dr. Fahs and Dr. Murphy were helping me with my medication taper and when I was having an issue with the nurse, the admissions nurse Jessica walked me over to the doctor's office and answered all my questions about my medication, she got me in with the doctor and made me feel supported. She really calmed me down because I was a bit nervous after driving 9 hours, but she was welcoming which helped me open up. Where do I start? My therapist Ty has been very helpful with a lot of guidance, and education. My case manager Ricky took care of everything that needed to be done. The clinical therapy was very informative and helpful. They took care of very personal and behavioral aspects in order for us to make meaningful changes. That was important. Randy, Marvin, Iyesha, Cecil, Michael and all the TAs are amazing. I could go on and on about the staff. Demetrius is great. They have all been very helpful and do whatever they need to do to help somebody. Demitrius groups were the best because he interacts with us. Trina and Amy were great too. Its very healing to hear from your peers. They give you good options to eat. There's plenty of walking area and plenty of things to do, you definitely don't get bored while your here. My therapist Saffiyah was spectacular, she was a very positive spirit. All of our meetings were very helpful. She's just terrific. She has such a good sense of humor and a good character. The classes were particularly powerful when Demitrius and Tony facilitated. They could be motivational speakers because they are so empowering, they really help you to see things as they are. TA Rachel and Cecil, Michael, Keita, and Tanya were great. Nurse Risha is so sweet. I love TA Debbie. They all helped me with anything I needed and helped me the best they could. I cherish all the groups that I did here but my favorites were Demitrius groups. They are so powerful. Mrs. Cami's groups are also great along with Amy.
