Today I bought a total of 5 shoes. The sales employee tried to sell rewards membership telling my friend and I that it was only $4.00 more for up to 20% off. She mumbled when I repeated it. Then I read all the reviews and most complain of being charged VIP membership without permission or warning. I looked at my receipt, and ****, the rude and unhelpful employee charged me $19.99 without my knowledge and completely misleading me. False advertisement fraudulent misrepresentation. I am also a victim of the **** Auto renew" except for the fact that I haven't bought anything from them for YEARS and after this I'm warning all of my friends and family that this is right up there with ***** Fargo. My guess is that they noticed they had a credit card on file for me and decided I wouldn't notice. I confirmed the last purchase I made with them was 2013!!! The membership plan should be avoided. Despite being told I could cancel, which I did, my credit card was charged anyway. I went in to the store (**********) and they assured me my account would be credited and the manager would give me a call. Neither happened. Avoid the subscription program at all costs!
They automatically charged a yearly membership fee twice without my consent or a heads-up and they would have charged for additional years if I hadn't realized what was going on and called them to cancel my membership. Don't patronize them. There are plenty of better stores that do what they do.
Road Runner Sports *** Family Awards is a SCAM!!I bought shoes from Road Runner 5 1/2 months ago. I signed up for the *** Family Awards Program to get free shipping because it was advertised in large letters as FREE. There was nothing in the signup process indicating that I would be charged a renewal fee at a later date. 5 1/2 months later, they charged me $50 to renew this "free" membership. I just found out I have been charged a yearly membership fee for a purchase back in 2015. I think at the time I became a member to get a discount. I do not think that at the time I had to pay a fee. Apparently they kept my credit card number and have charged my credit card now annually for 7 years. My husband pays the bill and never questioned it. BEWARE!!!!!!!
I think they run a scam with their annual membership.
They have you sign up to be a member to get an initial discount on your purchase there, then sneakily continue to charge your card yearly until caught (with ever higher rates). No emails were sent to alert the buyer of what they were up to. This sleazy business practice needs to be shut down!
Whatever you do- do NOT sign up for their membership! It is a scam! I received a charge for $70 out of the blue. Havent shopped with them in 4 years. They claim I have a membership, yet they also admitted I didnt have an email on file, so there was no way for them to have possibly communicated this membership renewing. I am furious.
